Hill Top Motel & Restaurant

I stayed one night at this motel. Reception at check in was friendly and professional. The free table service breakfast was an unexpected surprise. We knew breakfast was included, but we assumed continental breakfast/ self service. Pan fries were not my favourite. The french toast was not made with cinnamon brioche as advertised, but still yummy. Server for breakfast was excellent. Rooms were clean and you could tell they were just renovated. All amenities works well in the room. My son really liked the little metal pail in the bathroom with free toiletry items - especially the toothbrush! We brought our dog and they a nice area beside our building with doggy poop bags. It was nice to walk with the dog down to the bridge, by the museum and the falls. Overall, great value for money, especially Edmunston. We usually stay there on our annual drive to NS, but the prices were too high for a family of 4 and a dog. We will stay at the Hilltop again.

I have stayed at this motel for many years. It has totally gone down hill. Reception did not smile and was full of piercing and tattoos - so unprofessional. Prices went up so breakfast is now included - if you are travelling and you have time to wait for service. Short staff, cold food, no more homemade deserts,nno more Hilltop coffee mugs. The good servers have left.nMotel is over priced but they will still get the tourists because they don't know - regulars will go elsewhere.nVery sad - it use to be a great place.

The motel is fine. The restaurant is another story. No seafood. No potatoes. Gravy was cold. Vegetables were frozen from a bag. And according to waitress she hadn't met owner in the year she has worked here. It's a great place but the restaurant is a problem. It's too bad. The only reason I choose this motel was for the convenience of on-site food. No close alternative either. Oh well. Another place destined to go under if this continues.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel for many years on our trips down east. This visit was not a good one. Price for room online was cheaper than phoning them directly, they told me to save money It would be better to book online. Breakfast was included also. Wifi did not work until this morning, I was told there were issues and staff could not fix. Went to have a shower this morning and shower head did not work. No hair washing for me and my husband didn't have a shower at all. So if anyone is booking the accessible room, don't, most likely will not be fixed although they have been informed. Positive side, view is nice, meals were good, preferred breakfast meal to supper meal.

The rooms get 3 stars because we had a great room, comfy bed, nice and clean on our way through 2 weeks ago. On our way home last week, a different room was stuffy, window handle was broken and the bed was very uncomfortable. We were asked to pay extra $10 each if we wanted breakfast, but it was a bust. Waited half an hour for our order, which arrived cold. We left most of it on the plates. After spending many nights at the Hill Top over many years, it's time to find a new spot.
