We came for lunch on a Thursday. The place was quiet and we were seated right away. There was no interaction with the waitress and chef at the counter to comment on customer service. I love Japanese food but this DID NOT taste good. The Sushi rainbow pizza came with half cooked salmon it's supposed to be fresh salmon and green avocado completes the rainbow. There was a spider web on the dish which we didn't notice after. The beef short ribs were tossed in an odd light coloured jelly sauce and rubbery to bite into. The bento dish was also quite salty. Terrible experience, money not well spent and will not consider coming back.
Hibachi is a wonderful sushi restaurant! The staff is super friendly, and they have so many options! I’ve only been once since it’s a little bit expensive, but it was definitely worth the money. I even got free leftovers as the kitchen messed up my order for vegetarian phad Thai and made me a full sized one. The manager apologized for the error as she saw a look of terror on my face when I thought I’d have to try and eat it all to avoid getting charged extra. All turned out well, and I really need to go back!
I’ve been to several different all you can eat sushi restaurants in Guelph, and Hibachi is by far the best. It’s consistently good food, reasonably priced compared to some others, and is always clean. They even offer two types of soy sauce which might sound crazy but it beats getting stuck with just the regular or low sodium options depending on your preference.
I'm giving this place one star simply because of the waitress who was serving us and the two other tables in the restaurant, cashing people out, setting up take out orders AND helping in the kitchen all while the other two employees who I can only assume as the owners served up absolute garbage food. I'm very sorry to say, but it was the worst sushi I have ever had. My boyfriend and I stopped in for a late lunch on the way somewhere, we wanted to try something new and we don't live in the area so we were unaware of what is good and what is not. Unfortunately, for us, it was not good. The sushi wasn't fresh- not only could you see it, but you could also smell and taste it... I'm sorry but if you own a sushi restaurant why would your sushi be cheap, frozen and/or old product? The only thing good we had was the sushi pizza, which really contained no sushi at all as it was just deep fried rice. The tuna was discoloured and as my boyfriend said "tasted like water" good thing I guess, rather than the alternative... The chicken, beef, even the deep fried cheese wontons were just unappetizing and gross; the grilled ribs smelled rancid, I had to spit them out into my napkin. Overall, a really bad experience- we had to stop eating and ask for our bill before we got sick from eating anymore. I mentioned quietly to the server that we did not like a single thing we were given and really hadn't eaten anything at all so we would like our bill and to just stop service. We explained nothing tasted fresh, where we heard the woman working in the back yell about, not understanding that just because the food was made to order, does not mean the product itself is fresh. All in all, we ended up paying almost $75 for absolutely nothing. No discount, no alternative was suggested- we simply paid and left with a bad taste in our mouths, pun intended!
I feel very sympathetic to the young waitress working here. She was actually quite friendly and nice. Having said that, we have concerns about the quality of the food and viability of this business as a whole. We were the only two in the restaurant during a Saturday evening for dinner. This already boded poorly but we wanted to give it a shot. The door was left open with no air conditioning so it was slightly uncomfortable inside. The food was probably the worst AYCE sushi I have ever had. The tempura was raw inside quite the feat in of itself and the sashimi was almost freshly thawed. The sushi was good however. I certainly cannot recommend this place as there are so many other good options in Guelph.
The seafood is not fresh, it’s dried out and does not taste anywhere near as good as what I’ve had in other restaurants in Guelph. I typically order the cheese and crab wontons with a green dragon and rainbow roll; I tried to eat these ones but unfortunately the garbage seen more of them then my stomach did. I would not recommend this place it’s a waist of money.
Anyone who isn't paid to leave a crappy review on behalf of competition and accuse other of not knowing sushi, would know that this is a lovely restaurant that serves quality every time. I've been going to Hibatchi for over 5 years now on a weekly basis sometimes more and have never had a bad dish there nor has anything ever tasted "frozen". I love their Gyoza Soup and Spicy Crab Rolls. Absolutely scrumptious! I highly recommend them to all of my family and friends. Most of which of whom I've treated to a meal there and they have loved it. Best advice? Go there yourself and try it out. You won't regret it. Can't beat the prices too.
I've always loved my experiences here! The woman there is so kind and gives great service. If you're not sure what something on the menu is, she has no problem describing it to you. The food is excellent and the service is really fast! if you voice that you're too full to eat any more and you have more items on the way, she won't charge you for them. She just won't give them to you if you don't want them. Awesome place. Highly recommend.
Ive ordered several menu items here for eat in and Take-out and I have never seen a sushi restaurant that is as consistent and high quality as this place. The service is prompt and polite, food is ready very fast, but maintains a high standard that exceeds many of Guelph's other sushi restaurants. Highly Recommended.
Tonight was our first time having dinner here and it was horrible. The food lacked flavour and all the rolls barely had any fish in it. The salmon was half cooked in our salmon rolls. We ordered 2 other rolls “spicy tuna” and “spicy tempura roll” and neither were spicy. We were the only family in the restaurant and it took 2 hours and we still had not received our intire order. We cancelled the rest of our order-paid and went to baskinrobins for dessert. Save your money.
