Hawkwood Palace Restaurant

Been meaning to try this place out for a while. Ordered Dinner for 3...portions are nothing close to Dinner for 3 - see below photos used a lighter to show dimensions Food was okay but really bland. Quite disappointed...Will not order from this place again as the price was not worth what I ordered. Other restaurants in the area definitely have better value, quantity and quality.

Great food! Haven't been for many years, but it felt good coming back. It was slow in the restaurant, but we saw a bunch of take out/delivery orders going out. There was a small disconnect between the waitress and our table. I put this on my table not being there for some time... I cannot stress how much we enjoyed the food! As for the service, ultimately it was fantastic. One waitress for a few tables, and what seemed like constant pick-up and delivery... For a relaxing and enjoyable date night or 43'rd birthday... I think you will have a great experience.

Food was amazing. Our server was brand new so it probably hindered the regular service experience. I can't really clarify how good their service is since my only experience was with a brand new server. She was quite slow and made mistakes but it didn't ruin the dinner. We were with a group of 4 so at least we had some chats in between waiting. Don't come starving or you'll end up dying of hunger. The service may be low but the food is amazing and thats what matters. I'd go back even if I had to wait again, food was that good!

Tastes like disappointment. I am sad now. The place is now under new management and it is definitely nothing like it was before. I had been coming here since the early 90s and it had been a staple in my take-out repertoire. But now, the food has changed and it's pretty mediocre. The sauces now taste like they are artificial and bulk bought in a 55 gallon drum instead of store-made. My favorite deep-fried dish tastes like it now uses corndog batter. The ginger beef is mushy instead of crispy. I am now on the lookout for a new go-to Chinese takeout place.

This place is amazing. Don't understand all the negative reviews. We had an amazing meal in a clean quiet restaurant and were waited on by a friendly, polite and knowledgeable waitress. Since it was my birthday and also our first time dining here, we ordered a lot! Planned on having enough leftovers for one more meal, we had enough for two more. We ordered palace chicken, lemon chicken, honey garlic pork ribs, Shanghai noodles, Cantonese noodles, ginger and onion hot pot, ginger beef, and barbecue pork for an appetizer. Now you'd think there would at least one thing we wouldn't order again, nope! Everything was incredibly good! This is now our favourite restaurant in the entire city. A truly amazing restaurant! We'll definitely be returning!

The food was a mix of exceptional items and some mediocre ones. The pineapple chicken and ginger beef were both absolutely fantastic tasting and perfectly tender. The flavor of both these items is something that I would personally recommend to someone to try. The wonton soup one the other hand left much to be desired. The wantons were doughy and bland and the broth was far too subtly flavored to make up for the wontons unfortunately. One last point is that I was very disappointed that their takeout containers are composed of styrofoam which cannot be recycled nor composted afterwards.

We were looking for a place that can satisfy our chinese food craving and we are glad to have found the place. The place looked clean and they change their table cover everytime a new consumer seat. The food is good with just a right amount of serving size. We still had take home. We ordered dinner for 2 and the dishes were the exact ones that were craving for: spring rolls, mix veggies, ginger beef, sweet and sour pork, and fried rice! That was awesome. The price was also very reasonable and the servers were friendly. We'll definitely go back here again.

Amazing blend of western and canton style food. Always warm and friendly staff. While the decor is a little dated, the food more than makes up for it. Noticed a lot of take out orders while eating...so I’m assuming it’s a hit for the community residents as well!

This is our go to. It's great every time, and whomever we have over enjoys it as well, they usually take the menu home! The pick up is always smooth, I like that they give you the total on the phone without asking. Food is always ready in time quoted. Thank you Hawkwood Palace!

I have to agree with Neil. The portions are small and it is terrible value. I even asked the girl on the phone if they had increased the Take Out portions and she said on certain dishes. The salt and pepper squid and ginger beef are in small containers yet the sweet and sour pork and special chow mein is in the normal sized container. If you are ordering for 1or 2 people you might be ok with the small quantity. If you are ordering for a family or larger group it is bad value for average food at best. We will not order again as there are much better choices with no games.
