Hawkesbury & District General Hospital

This hospital has GREATLY improved in the last 10 years! Everything is streamlined now. The use of MyChart makes everything so organized and accessible. Their staff of doctors and nurses are amazing, and all the support staff are super friendly and helpful. The wait time at Emergency walk-in is long, of course, but that's the same everywhere. While I was waiting, the attending nurses were very kind, and even refilled my ice pack for me a couple times, and gave me a blanket. Thank you to everyone at HGH for making what would could have been a very traumatic experience, much less so.

My recent visit to the Emergency department at Hawkesbury General Hospital was incredibly positive. Despite a longer wait to see a doctor, the staff's friendliness and kindness made the experience worthwhile. Dr. Gabrielle Chabot was exceptionally nice and attentive, providing thorough care and extra caution during my mother's examinations. The entire team, including the nurses, was professional and caring. Thank you to everyone at the emergency department for your exceptional care and professionalism. You are all true angels of our community!

One of the worst hospital experiences I’ve had.nnI understand Covid has really put a statin on the system but this is something else.nnWe came in at 11am on a Tuesday about 20 people in front of us in the emergency department. For note I understand the Triage system and knew we would get in right away.nnWe were bumped down in the list continually and were left waiting 5 hours in the ER waiting room.nnWhen they did finally call us and thought we were in the last stretch they brought 10 of us to the internal waiting room. A second waiting room!nnFrom there they would really restart the Triage system and bump you down the internal waiting room list before assigning you a room we’re you would wait again.nnER waiting room = 1100-1600 = 5 hoursnInternal ER waiting room = 1600 - 2000 = 4 HoursnPatient room = 2000 - 2045 = 45 minnnBe warned unless you are really messed up you’ll be there 9+ hours for mediocre help.

Went there with my girlfriend yesterday because of her intense lower abdominal pain. She was feeling warm but her body was extremely cold and she was really nauseous. We had to wait 9 hours. During that time they gave her a blood and urinal test. Her symptoms went down during that time and when we finally got to speak to the doctor Vanessa after waiting 9hours. She seemed to be taking it as a joke, highly unprofessional, no referal, she didn’t try to figure out the issue. Just told us to call the ambulance next time it happens. So we basically waited 9 hours for her to tell us to call the ambulance next time. Our interaction lasted 5 mns at best…. Highly disappointed of my hometown hospital.nnWhile we were waiting in the first waiting room a young lady came in with her baby that was bleeding from its head and the administration wouldn’t give her an appointment. After she left with her baby you could see and hear the administrators laughing like madman’s…….nAnyone can work there honestly they would do a better job than who’s actually working there at the moment. It’s not humane. They have a big lack of empathy. I’m not saying everyone that works there but they clearly need to work on staff.

Avoid this hospital, this would take 2 pages to fill all the negative experiences ive encountered here. The cleaning staff and the food staff are more competent than the entire hospital. If you have an appointment at 10:00, why are you calling at 7:30 in the morning to get there an hour earlier when you've arranged expensive transportation for the time designated on your paper? No one mentioned to get there early to have an x ray and then when you arrive you are rerouted in the wrong direction to top it off and everyone is clueless. Then when you do get settled in there is no psw to help you move your mom, good thing I know how to transfer!!! This is just one of many complaints, my favourite was arriving at 8am to find my mother still wasnt dressed or ready for her appointment to accompany her to ottawa, again maybe you should hire some psw's!!! Instead of relying on family. There is more but what's the point, this hospital is in dire need of management not to mention professionalism which is lacking in all departments except the cleaning department and the lovely people who bring the food to the patients room. AVOID.....this mickey mouse hospital.
