The food was pretty decent, nothing really special? The sauce however was pretty good, I did enjoy that. The katsu did leave an annoying aftertaste. Made my tongue feel like it had a layer of wax left on top. The ramen broth just tasted like Chinese noodle soup but slapped a bunch of random ingredients in it.
Wow the food was amazing especially the original brown katsuthe sauce is great super crispy outside and tender inside!! I also had the Nagasaki jjambong which was good. I'm coming here again to try different dishes later.
Very nice place! Delicious food and cheap price. The pork is fresh cooked and crispe. The sauce is nice too, making the taste better. We two visit here today and found the portion is too big, there’s two pieces of pork in each plate so there’s four in total for us but at the end we could only finish 3 pieces and the other piece for take out… Anyway it’s a very amazing restaurant in Toronto!
Came here for the first time expecting another typical katsu place, was absolutely wrong. Had the Cheese Bomb and Fried Shrimp, completely blown away by the dish. The crunch and texture was perfect and not oily. I left some shrimp to eat later and even after 10-15 minutes, still retained the crunch without any oily sogginess. One of the owners, Julie, came out to talk with us and she was an absolute delight. Will definitely come again. I know I posted 3 pictures of the same dish but just really wanted to show the cheese pull!
Some of the best customer service we've had. We ordered too many appetizers and the owner came and said you guys ordered too much food! And told us to order less because the entrees itself was massive. Food was delicious and very tasty. Small restaurant seating for maybe 18 people but very greatFood: 5/5
Best katsu in the city. The breading is perfectly crispy, sauces are great, and the portion sizes are huge. The staff are very nice and we were given extra original sauce to take home with our leftovers. There is a 5% discount if you pay with cash.
The food came pretty quick, we order chicken shrimp and pork Katsu. The batter is quite thin and the meat wasn't dry. I was a little disappointed with the level 3 spiciness. They even gave me extra hot sauce and it was just kinda medium spicy. The staff was very attentive and nice, quick to respond to order and overall very pleasant environment. Kid-friendliness: They had high chair available for my 2 year old, gave them crayon to draw on while waiting for the food which came very quickly and also had child utensils.
I love Brown Donkatsu, they have confidence to open their new branch beside Katsuya. Anyway, the breaded katsu are definitely crispier than their neighbouring counterparts, but the carbonara sauce wasn't the greatest. I ordered a level 3, but was given a level 0. I got a small bowl with the sauce and when I tasted it, it was just the chemical hot sauce that I didn't really like. So I'm glad they made a mistake and I didn't have to go through the turmoil. Anyway, it was good.
So, when we first found this place, we were kind of put off by the name. Well just like you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, I was totally wrong to pass judgement before trying the food. I had the curry and my partner had the cheese both pork... and both were AMAZING!! Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The portion size was generous and I didn't think I could finish. Lucky for me, my partner eats like a bird and I had a few bites of hers. The seating is very limited so get there early for dinner service or definitely wait for a seat.
Small place but great food and good shareable portion plates. Visited their Richmond Hill location too more spacious in terms of seating ... They've been consistent in flavour! Tried the brown katsu level 3 spice and cheese bomb katsu, Pork Donburi, gyōza & their Everything katsu ... Loved all of these! Price can be steep, but each dish except appetizers is enough for Two.
