I’ve dined here many times over the years. I really wanted to try the coconut rice cake with shrimp. It wasn’t what I expected, it was dry and dense. The chicken wings had great taste but it was small portion. Service was great and lots of free parking despite it being on Kingsway.
Consistent quality over the years, and they have been around. Service is friendly and food is authentic which keep me coming back. I like their Com Tam broken rice dishes. Highly recommend.
First time dine in here, Bun rieu is surprised me, tested like what I ate in Ho chi min city. Knocked out 1 star because really disappointed on Banh Xeo, very less meat 3 thin medium sliced of pork, 1 shrimp and loaded of cooked bean sprouts. Will go back for Bun rieu tho.
It is quite an exellent Vietnamese restaurant in town, the disks are tasting and quite reasonable quality and quantity. We tried just 03 disks among but all of them are exellent, "Com tam", "Nem Nuong", "Banh khot". In addition, there is parking in front with shared place.Food: 5/5
We went there around 5pm on a weekday and were the only ones there and it still took quite long for our food to come. Ordered the noodles soup and the noodles were overcooked and broken. Instead of having bottles of the hoisin and sriracha sauces at your table they served it in sauce dishes. Overall experience and food not worth $17 per bowl.
I've been testing various Pho restaurants just to check if their soup broth 'Is it Legit Pho or not': If you order any combination of Hai Phong's Pho beef noodle soup, make sure to take home just the soup broth. *Remember to finish off any remaining noodles, bean sprouts, and basil* Put the soup container into the fridge for over 4-6hrs and then you'll notice that their soup gels up. There's only a few places in town that still uses authentic bone broth for their Pho, and Hai Phong is one of those few gems. When the collegen from the beef bone gets released during cooking, it gets so rich that it solidifies the entire Pho soup when you take it out from the fridge. Reheat the Pho soup for another quick & easy lunch/dinner. 5/5 Score - Hai Phong has 'Legit Pho'
Their drinks are really refreshing. I'd recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice and Lychee soda. Their taro slush is good too but made from powder. The beef pho, chicken curry noodle, spring and salad rolls, and shrimp on sugar cane were all good but average. Nothing that stood out... Food all tasted pretty standard for what it was.
Omfg I just had their house special and it was amazing, the tendon was slow cooked with flavour not just boiled and the beef, so good, must go if you’re in the area!
Wide menu selection. One of the few places in Vancouver serving marinated raw beef bo tai chanh. June 2018: Post renos, place looks modernized although layout the same. Food different - chicken wings not as good. July 2022: Crab pho has very lttle crab, raw beef okay.
Taste is good. Price is very reasonable. Restaurant is clean and tidy. A lot of parking spaces available. If you like Vietnamese food, try it out.
