Food is delicious! Scallops were cooked to absolute perfection. Ramsey would have nothing bad to say about them lol Server was polite and kind. Only annoying thing is the 15 min warning they give you to leave. You’re allowed 2 hours for the table. At the prices they’re charging, I just feel it’s tacky to be so stern on the time limit. Maybe give 2.5-3 hours if you must have a timeline.
Really great steakhouse. We ordered the 40 oz tomahawk and 40 oz porterhouse steak. It’s more than enough between 6 dudes. There is also a good selection of wine, but I’m no sommelier. It’s definitely a place to go if you’re visiting Montreal!
The decor and general ambiance of Grinder is really nice. Good music, vibrant crowd as expected. Our waiters were great too. I’ll preface this with, I have gotten meat from Grinder’s butcher next door before and it’s always great and I highly recommend it. We ordered some appetizers and drinks which were good and then ordered the tomahawk and lobster combos. The meat tasted a bit off, to the eye it looked like it was cooked well but it just didn’t taste good. As the different bussers and waiters came back for quality check, we brought it up to their attention and nothing was done about it. We ate most of the other food but didn’t finish the steak. Long story short, more than $700 spent that night and our whole party got food poisoning after that night. I called back a few days later to bring this up as a point of concern to the restaurant and a manager on the phone told me he’s never heard of this before and he would call me back…still waiting on that call. I live in the area and decided to stop in a few days after that to talk to someone and spoke to a manager who basically told me someone on the night of should have done something…even after I told him no one did anything…and that was it. I would assume if a customer spent a lot of money on dinner and didn’t have a good experience that they would at the very least get a call back when promised so. Disappointing.
The service here is incredible; busboys ready to fill your glasses, take your dirty plates and clean up the table. They are very fun and polite too. We had the tomahawk steak for 2. It doesn't look like much, but one slice is about 10 mouthfuls, and there's about 6 slices on that piece of meat. Plus you get to gnaw on the bone! And you get 2 sides, so come hungry if you choose this dish!
Grinder was one of the best experiences I’ve had at a steakhouse in a while. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was incredibly quick and helpful. The waitress was very friendly and had great suggestions, as well as very accommodating. We celebrated a birthday and they provided us with our dessert on the house, which was super nice. Overall, I’d give Grinder a very very strong 5/5 and would highly recommend to visit.
Service very good, friendly staff. Price is very high for the portion, I had the filet. The potato’s were very good actually but for $61+ a bit of a larger cut would be nice Still of course funky place.
Service was absolutely perfect each time I went, ambiance is nice a bit difficilt to read the menu though due to the lack of lighting, pretty noisy and always packed with clients. Would highly recommend to reserve. Wagyu beef carpaccio: my absolute favorite appetizer. The beef is tender, well paired with the truffle mayo and the texture of the hazelnuts. Pricey 26$, but I love it so much I am willing to pay this. I always take this when I come to Grinder. Filet mignon with truffle butter: I asked for medium rare, got rare. They suggested to cookd my meat more but I had to leave for work soon so I couldn't wait for it. They instead made me a mocktail on the house. The meat was still super good and they offer 4 differents sauces to pair with the meat. Honestly, 3 out of 4 tasted so similar, too much wine. The baked potato was good too. Chocolate lava cake: super good Skirt steak: There was a bit too much char to my taste on the outside, so more bitterness than needed, and despite it still being pink inside, the meat was very chewy. The chimichurri was excellent and the steak came with 4 sauces as well. 2 coworkers ordered the same and their steak was burnt. Unchewable. Same thing for their baked potato. Salmon tartar: very good basic tartar, a bit peicey for what it is, would recommend it as an appetizer, but not as a meal Beef burger: humongous and juicy Scallops: cooked, soft, nice seasoning My only "complaint": to be careful of steaks. If you know that the cut of meat is known to be a bit chewy, well it might be served to you extra chewy or burnt. Could be due to the quantity of clients, but not all steaks are ruined. Appetizers are super good. If you have a bit of money to treat yourself i would recommend this place. Service is impeccable. No orders were messed up even when I reserved for 15 people. I would come back for the wagyu carpaccio. Must try.
I went to grinder on a Sunday evening. The vibe and environment was immaculate. The food was delicious and service was excellent. It did take some time for the kitchen to bring out the food, I would say it did take an hour or more but we were having fun and drinking so it worked out. They have valet parking and lots of seating . I do recommend you make a reservation. The music is really loud but I loved it I think it made the atmosphere. It kind of had a supper club atmosphere which was great.
Hanger steak and filet mignon were delicious. Lots of busy staff running around to keep your table cleared and glasses full. Very cool ambiance. Love the outdoor/indoor vibes. Giant green wall full of plants makes you feel like you are eating outdoors.
If I can give 10 stars I definitely would. Everything is extremely tasty and worth every dollar you spend here, from the drinks to the appetizer to the main course and ending with the dessert. They have valet service too.
