First time here. Was justlooking fir a decent cup of coffee. Got that and more. The place was packed with people eating in. They were cleared out of donuts, but fresh ones kept coming out. Nice, warm, fresh delicious full sized donuts. Really hit the spot. Haven't had donuts like this in years! Looking at the menu there was some Vietnamese flair. I wanted a cappuccino, but they were out apparently, so I went with a black coffee. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. There was a constant line of customers. My experience was quite exceptional and can't wait for my next visit.
I've driven past GrandDonuts several times and always thought I should give them a try. So I did. All those doughnut drive through giants need to take lessons from GrandDonuts on how to make donuts. Wow were their donuts ever good. Soft and tender and oh so tasty. I'll have to go back as they a selection of Banh MI sandwiches and other foods. If you're in the neighbourhood drop in and give GrandDonuts a try, I think you'll enjoy them! A LITTLE EXTRA! I was in the area a few days later and tried aBanh Mi. OMG What a great sandwich! First thing I noticed was the weight of this delight. The bun had a beautifully crispy crust and a so soft interior. It was a little spicy, a little sweet and stuffed full of tasty fillings. I will definitely be back for more!
Our first visit to this place was not good. Tables were occupied by dirty plates, doughnuts weren’t labelled and the staff didn’t know which doughnut was which, so it was an uncomfortable and confusing experience. A year later, we went back and there were still no labels. All the customers ahead of us in line pointed and asked “what’s that one?” Although customer service was better, the quality of doughnuts was questionable. The Boston Cream had very little filling.
Update.. we came here again in Sept 2022 and we were disappointed that it didnt taste as good as it used to. We ordered the same items such as apple fritter, beef pho and chicken banh mi. The apple fritter is really, really good!! The banh mi and pho were not flavorful surprisingly and the pho had “not homemade” aftertaste.. we will come back for the donuts/fritters! We went around 7:30pm and got two donuts apple fritter and lemon filled and tried their chicken banh mi and beef pho. Service was good and the place felt welcoming. The donuts were just okay, the apple fritter was really good but the lemon felt flat and had a subtle bitter aftertaste. We’ll try to come earlier when they open so we can taste them hot and fresh. The food was delicious! The banh mi was flavourful and filling. The pho was not the best, but I was surprised how good it was. All of this food plus one soda drink came out to less than $30! We were so full at the end. Thank you, we will be back!
Wow, the freshest, most delicious donuts ever! Yes a bit pricey. But worth it. Jam filled donut $1.89 and special yeast cinamon bun huge for $2.59. Super fresh and soft. Total $5.01 after adding in taxes PST & GST About $20 for a dozen donuts.
DELICIOUS! Absolutely amazing donut shop. 6.50 for two donuts and a large coffee. Donuts were warm and soft, so good. I had to order an apple fritter as well before I left. You've been warned, their pastries are addicting! Great little spot to meet someone and catch up. Can't wait to come back.
Was good when 1st opened donuts are tasty pho is delicious. However the past few times we've been..there is never a selection of donuts. Don't bother going first thing in the morning for open...you'll have to wait 1 hour for a donut. When I think bakery I'd assume there would be donuts ready for sale when the doors open no? Also don't bother coming back 1 hour after open. Most donuts on display are "on hold" for customer's that have called. This has happened the past 2 times we've been.
Okay for a quick coffee and snack. Food is good also. On any given day staff is good but always big turnover. Always new people learning. Will repeat as the donuts are not bland cake donuts from other overrated coffee shop. Parking: Good
They have the best Pho on the east side of Winnipeg. Banh Mi is not bad either. Another favourite is the shrimp noodle bowl. Special mention for their Apple Fritter, which is surprisingly better than your run of the mill donut chains. This is one of our go to places when we have no ideas where to eat, because the food is good and you get great value for your money as well.
I love Grand Donut's for their food, my only complaint would be that I purchased what was advertised as a cappuccino. Instead the drink I got was a powder-mix drink with hot water, no espresso / coffee to it. I hate to say it but the drink reminded me of those 7/11 hot drinks, like a French vanilla or something. I did overhear the staff discussing "if the espresso machine was still not working". I am wondering if this situation was simply a lapse of judgement where the employee made the decision to make a different drink and call it a cappuccino. Regardless, sad I paid for a cappuccino, but still love their pastries!
