We had come to ISKCON Hare Krishna temple and glad that we tried food at Govinda’s. Awesome awesome awesome. If I could, I would have rated more than 5 star. Amazing and delicious lunch. Definitely a must try when in that area. Staff is pretty amazing and welcoming. Looks like there is a special cook on Wednesdays
A unique experience in terms of dining. One important thing to note first and foremost is that the restaurant no longer serves all you can eat for one price due to COVID-19. This is just to clarify for anyone who wants to pay one price and eat until full. There is no longer a buffet style all you can eat. I was a bit confused at first expecting a self serve style buffet however upon arrival, that was no longer the case. The atmosphere here is peaceful and quiet, nicely tucked away in a thick forestry area along Marine Drive in South Burnaby. It is situated on an Hindu Temple ground - serving religion oriented food and philosophy. The restaurant does not have a set menu, but rather serves omakase style - meaning the chef changes up the menu on a daily basis. For approximately $15, one can expect a very hearty and ample lunch thali - all ingredients grown right on the temple ground's own organic food garden. Great value and healthy. The cooking is light - but I prefer to use the word 'Gentle'. Light on fat, seasoning and zero processed ingredients. All made with much love. It is a meal fit for Gods and commoners alike. The community and people working here are simply amazing and kind. Come here to nourish your tummy - but even more importantly, to nourish your soul.
We had a couple of appointments in the Lower Mainland today, and had lunch at ISKCON Vancouver Hare Krishna Temple in Burnaby. Govindas is located on the grounds of the temple, surrounded by a peaceful landscape. The restaurant offers vegetarian/vegan food, and they use organic ingredients grown on the grounds. The Indian thali selections were delicious, and the staff were so kind, gentle, and welcoming. The food is blessed before serving, and made with “love and devotion.” We were transported away from our city lives, yet steps away from Marine Drive. We felt grateful for this nourishing food, and for the people who grew it, cooked it, and served it. Thank you.
Temple environment was healthy with lots of greenery and banana trees. I also had lunch at Govindas which was approx. $15 per Thali. It is not fair for me if I comment on the quality and quantity of the food as it was prasadam.
Loved dining at Govinda's. The price is very reasonable given the fact that their buffets are all you can eat. The food tasted great. They have really redone the entire place. It's got a very cozy vibe and a nice ambience. It's very clean and the tables are senatized frequently. The redone patio is really cool too and is a welcome addition.
Authentic Indian food. They change menu every day but food taste like home made food.
I am not one to write reviews often, but I felt compelled to share my positive experience with this tiffin service. The food exudes positive vibes with its delicious taste and fresh ingredients, making every bite a satisfying and uplifting experience. What's even better is the reasonable prices, which make it accessible for everyone. The delivery person is another highlight of this service; they are always calm, polite, and professional, ensuring that my food arrives on time and in perfect condition. Their friendly demeanor always puts a smile on my face. I am deeply saddened to hear that the tiffin service has closed and I sincerely hope that it will be restarted soon.
The food from them is pretty fantastic and tasty too. Timely delivery of food, variety, and options can help you choose the service on an affordable $ I would highly suggest someone looking for tiffin services at an affordable $ Hare Krishna!
We had ordered lunch back in July’22 the lunch combo were amazing and since then I wanted to visit in person and try the food through dine in. I visited for dine in on March 4th between 2.30-3pm. We ordered the thali which had fusion of soup, Manchurian, noodles, rice and soya curry shaped in a form fish. I asked the prabhuji who assisted us what it was to which he didn’t respond. First bite and it felt weird as I have never consumed meat and avoid eating anything that tastes or resembles the same. That was a big turnoff, the curry had soya shaped in fish curry pieces wrapped in possibly seaweed as I didn’t receive any response to what it actually was and based on what I saw and tasted. And being a member I have had prasadam in India and I understand and appreciate the efforts everyone tried to put here in Vancouver but please refrain from imitating something which isn’t appropriate. Satvik Bhojan doesn’t have anything that resembles meat dishes. This has been a big disappointment.
A small place in the temple premises. Vegetarian fusion food. Worth a try.Recommended dishesLunch Combo
