I've been coming to Uncle Willy's since the late 80's and though the food wasn't great, I've always been satisficed when I left the restaurant. I haven't been here since the pandemic, but I thought I would give them a try again since things are somewhat back to normal, and I left feeling so disappointed. The food selection was very limited, and was barely edible. We were there when they first open, and when we looked at the food, some of them were already 1/2 gone which means they were leftover from last nights dinner. The spaghetti was hard, like it was sitting in the serving tray for a long time. Same with the chow mein, and the chicken. There were no labels and some of the dishes look so disgusting I didn't even want to try them. The desert section is now just cookies and few different cakes. The soft drinks was watered down more than it use to be. I only gave them one star for their fried chicken. It was still very good, but they only bring out about a dozen at a time. I don't think I've been to an all you can eat restaurant and felt guilty taking more than one piece since people were lined up for the fried chicken.
Before I even say anything, if you are reading this DON'T COME HERE. Not even if it's your birthday and you get a free seperate meal. I have been here multiple times in the past and it WAS generally a good experience, so I was hoping for the same this time. Clearly, they have changed for the worst after they moved locations. Although the restaurant feel was better after switching, everything else went way downhill. The food was almost all bad, and it was hard to digest some of it, plus there was such a small selection too. The cutlery was not cleaned or dried properly, along with the table that we sat at having crumbs all over and had clearly not been cleaned properly. The food was either bone dry or very mushy, and there were pieces of small bones in some of the chicken. For dessert we had more dry food, and one of the cakes mase my brother throw up in the washrooms. The ice cream machine had to be filled constantly and came out hard and chunky, and the bottle of chocolate sauce was covered in sauce and hard to use. I was excited for the roast beef until I found out the gravy was basically like extremely salty water and inedible. Call me spoiled, but I have been to other buffets with really tasty food and good service, along with actual cleanliness for the same price or even less. If I had known that my friend had got food poisoning from Uncle Willie's a few weeks before, I wouldn't have come. The price isn't worth it at all even if everything tasted good, because it was just gross. If you want to have a nice experience and enjoy some good food, there are some really nice restaurants and buffets in the area, I have been to a lot of them in the area and I am just disgusted by how bad this experience was. Sorry Uncle Willie's, get better or go out of business. Vegetarian options: Obviously there are things you can eat that are vegetarian, but they are not fresh and definitely a big possibility of cross contamination with meat. Don't come here, vegetarian or not. Kid-friendliness: Unlike most buffets, they only allow children 10 and under a cheaper deal, whereas most other buffets anywhere cut it off at 12. Whether you are 5 or 45, you won't enjoy the experience, as it is way too expensive for the terrible food quality and uncleanliness that can cause food poisoning. Not worth it at all! Dietary restrictions: There is no special options for dietary restrictions, lots of cross contamination so even the things that should be fine may be mixed with other things. Even if you are not worried about eating bad food I guarantee you will have a terrible experience. Not only is the cutlery and plates not washed or dried properly and the tables covered in crumbs, the entire selection of food is sparse and all of the food tastes terrible. Please don't go to Uncle Willie's, there are so many other great buffets that don't give you food poisoning amd throw up in the bathroom, plus this is way overpriced for the amount of food and the environment alone. I can't stress this enough, don't come here please.
I'm the least picky eater and have been coming to Uncle Willys for years now. Unfortunately this was the last straw. The food, for what you pay for, is less than par. The food taste and looks like it was from the day before. The pizza is hard, the chow mein is hard, the bread is hard, the food taste bland and looks very unappealing. The only good item is the fried chicken and they bring out 20 pieces every 20 minutes. Once they bring it out obviously it only last 1 minute. I don't think this business will be open too long.
Had the Sunday brunch. Plentiful breakfast options including bennies with soft poached eggs. They also had lots of lunch options like roast beef, fried chicken and lasagna. Fresh fruit, deserts, coffee and soda. Much of the food tastes like it's actually made in house. Definitely a better quality and price than casino buffets Parking: There are a few free parking spots directly in front of the Bay entrance. Free parking in Metrotown underground as well, but it's a bit of a trek. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a wheelchair ramp at the entrance/exit
I came back after many years for nostalgic reasons but I will never return again. I wonder how they stay in business. The dining room was almost empty during dinner time. There were takeout orders but that's about it. Lady at the front counter didn't seem like she wants to be there, she was on her phone the whole time, wasn't really greeting customers. Men's washroom was dirty, pee on the floor, dirty toilets and no soap. I brought it to their attention, 30 mins later someone else compliant about it. Food was sitting there for a while and you can tell, rice on the sushi was dries out, no hot and sour soup, when I askes if they had more they simply said no... At 630pm? Really, dinner time? When customers are paying $25 per person. Oranges were moldy and old. Throw it away.. it's touching all the good oranges.. food safety concern here. Pizza was rock hard, all the toppings were dried out. Beef ribs were so fatty and dry. Corn was over cooked. Pasta sucked. The fried chicken was good but that about it. Ice cream were hidden in the back that's where I found a cook who fell asleep watching shows on his phone. Ice cream was like melting ice milk. Coffee was so light that it tasted like tea. Roast beef was dried out.. Diet Pepsi was out of order. No parking spots close by, you can park at the bay and risk a ticket.
Went here for the 1st time last sunday evening with the whole familys as a memory from the past growing up, was disappointed in the food. Quality and very limited choices. The salad bar was lacking, for green salad there was lettuce and cucumber and tomatos that tasted like they sat in water for hours, no multiple choices of dressing, croutons, bacon bits and alk the other possible toppings for a green salad. The meatballs did not taste like meat. The roast, ribs and potatoes were good but i was expecting more choices. The ice cream machine would of been nice to have a sign or something directing us to it and toppings other than a squeeze caramel sauce. Its not something i would drive out an hour for again but if in town i might try there brunch but at this point i dont recommend it and online pictures do not represent it
We were hungry and we found this place. And was kind of expensive for the food they offer. Some of the food was ok some of them not tasty but they get 3 starts because they were clean.
The food is so so old! I've known this place since I was a child and never was the food so old and dry. There were also very few food, protein and dessert choices. And again everything looked like it was from more than the day before. It used to be fair priced, food was hot and good. Now you're paying 25 dollars for leftovers. I went at dinner time and the food was only topped up when there was nothing left and all the crumbs and old leftovers were put on top in front of patrons. Just disgusting. I regretted my trip there but it was an eye opener to never ever go to this place again!
Holy moly! We went this past Monday at about 4:30/5pm. Wife walked in to take a look at the food and promptly turned around and said we were leaving. There was next to no food, what was there was awful for selection and the place just opened for dinner and had less then five tables with guests. I have never in my life seen a buffet like this and am amazed at how this place is run. Way back when I was a kid this place was awesome.
Just not a fan of over cooked buffet pasta that resembles an oatmeal-like consistency. Plus so many customers dipping their fingers in the soups to snag a taste. Also, witnessed two persons in washroom no.2 was taken and did not wash their hands. Later same people were grabbing food from buffet with their dirty hands. Holy cow. Just revolting. Make sure to take diarrhea medicine before going. Otherwise, very affordable.
