I have volunteered at least ten hours at the Gleaners' Howell location and a total of twenty hours with the organization as a whole. The Howell distribution center is great, they pick up food from various locations such as grocery stores, sort, put on shelves in their grocery-style pantry, host events, build all-ingredient included recipe and birthday packages for children of both sexes. Since, it is also a distribution center, they also distribute to other organizations and pantries across South-East MI. The entire Gleaners organization is mostly ran or most work is done by volunteers, which I had noticed long-term volunteers represented the few employees due to a meaningful impact on them over the years with Gleaners. Check this place out if you are struggling with obtaining food and/or want to aid in struggles almost every American will at least once face (either insecurity of food, finance, residence, etc.). Food makes an impact, if not directly aiding with providing food, I am sure they can link people to other resources to facilitate positive changes.

The people are always friendly and understanding and caring. Like a family way. They call you by your name after they see you a lot.
