Gibson House
Built in 1851, Gibson House was the home of Scottish immigrant David Gibson and his family. He was a land surveyor who helped map early Toronto. Wanted by the government for participating in the Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837, Gibson was forced to flee to the United States where he and his family remained for 11 years. On their return to York County, the Gibsons built this beautiful home and once again became active members of their rural community.

Visitors can step back in time and explore this elegant farmhouse. Its serene Georgian-style exterior belies the dramatic lives of the Gibson family.

Wonderful to have a beautiful historic spot preserved in an area where so much has been lost

Great programs for history lovers. The tour is very instructive and the artifacts inside make you feel like you're in 1861 again. Is also affordable and offers good souvenirs.

Excellent tour guide gave a very informative tour highlighting the history of the time and the area as well as Mr. Gibson's story. Interesting layout - the house is bigger than it looks!

I've been to Gibson House before, but took a group of new visitors who had never been there before. We went in December, when we got a seasonal themed tour, plus a tea break in the dining room, all for the price of general admission, which was already pretty inexpensive. Everybody who came with me says they want to do the same thing again next year (or, way before then!).
