Beautiful monument overlooking the surrounding park beneath Mount Royal. In summertime this is a popular site for picnics though I'd avoid visiting on Sunday. Most of the Tam Tam goers are there to peacefully enjoy themselves but it is not uncommon for members of that crowd to be behaving aggressively: verbally abusing passer-bys and defacing the monument. Serves as a perfect meetup point for Mount Royal running in the summer and skiing in the winter see photo. The well groomed ski trails offer a unique opportunity for urban skiing.
It's a beautiful space and spot but I cannot believe that there is nothing explaining what the statues are. Plaques saying who put it up but no explanation at all. Amazing.
Great location to walk by. Lovely view of the city.
Nice park in Montreal - from downtown you walk through McGill campus then arrive. Great for hiking uo to overlook at top of Mt Royal. Also Sundays in Summers is Tam Tams, a leaderless hangout with music and adult fun. When I first approached it there was literally a small cloud of smoke hovering over it with drum music coming through the smoke , I heard Bob Marley concert in Toronto was also like that,my friends Mom went there in the 70s
A really good spot for the summer picnic , music and food available during summer times. If you want to rest on the grass for a little while and watch the seagulls steal food it’s very relaxing. Bring your sunscreen though.
Always fun to be when the TAM TAM is happening, lots of people music and safe environment
Very large, interesting monument, worth walking all the way around!
Very beautiful place to sit and relax and take in the monument and the passing city life. Free WiFi is available at this location. This monument is located at the bottom of the path leading up to Mount Royal which is also very beautiful. Ample seating space is available to admire the monument.
So, I don't know how it is these days, but it used to be something... Around 50 drums, many people in front of them dancing, attempting at pranking others, people smokingweed it wasn't legal back then...... pot?, ?... ? and a few cigarette smokers, and a lot of others around, going up on the side of the 'Mountain'... La Montagne... Went there with a few people... Last time as an after... Last time I saw those also... I went back some 15 years after, went around, freaked out, and was sad, all of that at the same time...
Perfect spot to have a picnic, meet before going for a quick hike up the Mount Royal or just enjoy the sun. Lot of space to fly a kite, play frisbee or run too. Bus stop right in front, bike paths too, very accessible. Tamtams every Sunday.
