My 87 year old mother came to the ER by ambulance. The Dr saw her right away and ordered tests. It took forever to hear what the test results were. Then when they decided to admit her for observation she laid on the ER stretcher for over 12 hours no one came in to check on her unless I rang the call bell. I'm glad I stayed with her. I tried to make her as comfortable as I could. Maybe they need more staff or the nurses need smaller pt ratios. I'm hoping Danville is not this bad
So, my daughter is currently having my 3rd grandchild at your hospital while I sit at TGI Fridays. Why might you ask? Because after traveling over 5 hours to get there, the hospital security will not let my 16 year old son in the building. Why? What's the difference between a 16 year old and an 18 year old? Your facility and you absolutely ridiculous rules have now destroyed a moment and memory in my life that I will never get back. Also, I personally made it to the 3rd floor to find out that the rules given to me by your lobby security are not accurate in the slightest. The labor and delivery nurses actually laughed at them. You know why you just got a bad review and hold a 2.4 rating? Because of your complete lack of compassion and empathy for a particular situation. You played hardball and stonewalled me and my son without say, "ya know, if we check his driver's license, maybe we can see how far he drove". No. Heck no. You simply did the wrong thing, and from reading all the other reviews.......I can see that's pretty much the norm.
It is currently 1:30 AM on November 1. My mother was brought in to the ER by ambulance at 940 this morning and was left in the ER waiting for as of right now 15 hours and still she hasn’t been seen by a doctor. NO Communication with the staff and the patient. You can clearly see they’re short staffed and doing their best but they need to have someone out on the waiting room floor dealing with the patients and communicating with them. There were so many patients around that had an absolute horrible experience along with myself. This staff needs to have more compassion for their patients and their families.
They did a fantastic job with my mom. Within a half hour of getting a bed in the ER she had 3 tests completed and got an MRI Within 2 hours of it being ordered. They moved, all of them, doctors, nurses, transport. I am very grateful for their professionalism and their caring manner. Great job !!
Emergency room waited over 9 hours to get answers. labs were available 3 hours before they could find a doctor to go over them they even had the audacity to tell us this was a slow night. Leaving was not an option even when it was obvious this was not a non life threatening situation as they were only to happy to say you leave we do not follow up with a phone call. I only hope that the New Lehigh valley hospital up the road will cause them to raise their game ! If there was to be next time I will drive the extra 10 minutes to find out. One other point we were also told on this visit that perfectly good insurance could not be validated by them and would we sign a form indicating that they can bill us direct for this treatment and we could sort it out with the insurance company later do not do this there was nothing wrong with there system almost appears as a scam on there part! One very disappointed customer.
Found rock bottom and continue to dig deeper into the hole. 5 hours in the ER waiting room. And still here. They were quick to charge the copay but have no concept of urgency otherwise. Background: dad was seen by another Geisinger doctor for his foot - the doctor botched the wound treatment in the office; the home nurse was appalled by the lack of care of the doctor and sent Dad to the ER because she couldn’t get in contact with the doctor. This place is a mess… and continues to be a mess. Guaranteed Geisinger will respond with the typical ‘we are sorry for this, please call and we can discuss how to help’ - and that’s a joke too. I’ve contacted several times in the past and their line is ‘that was an anomaly, please let us do better next time’. Do yourself a favor. If you can go to a different ER - go. Look for UPMC. Or Lehigh Valley. Anywhere but here. If you can’t as in the case of my Dad, you’re stuck as this is the ‘largest’ ER in his area. We asked to talk to the ER supervisor, she came down and saw us in the waiting room… she whispered to the check in person, pointed at us, then walked away. Then all of a sudden she was busy with something else. I think we should change the slogan “Geisinger, caring” to “Geisinger, careless”. Or maybe “Geisinger, clueless”. I could continue, but you get the picture. In my final thought before I close, after reading some of the other reviews from other patient experiences, at least I’m not the only one dealing with this. 2.4 out of five stars doesn’t say much about the hospital or the administration. I get it, staff is overworked, but that’s where the administration needs to step in and do the right thing. And they are clearly failing at it.
Staff was semi helpful, radiology forgot how many films are needed for a t-spine X-ray, and the waiting time is horrendous. been here for almost three hours and still have yet to get results back. horrible experience. Also took the actual doctor three hours to even check me and my mom out. they’ve had us sitting in chairs in the hallway the whole time as I’m having back pain I’m stuck sitting 90° straight up. absolutely ridiculous.
I came with my 3 year old to the emergency room at 10:30 pm at night. She was bleeding from her private and was experiencing pain down there. I am currently writing this review waiting… it’s 2:50 am. Multiple patients got there after us and were taken care of ahead of us. All we needed was a urine sample to verify whether or not my child had an infection. If you are in dire need of something do not. I repeat. Do not go to the ER here. You will be waiting at least 6+ hrs for any type of answer or response. In fact, if you need anything medically, just don’t go here. Go to Lehigh valley Or Danville. I would even say Geisinger south Wilkes barre
Fiance went to the emergency room @ GWV Hospital after seeing his family Dr. for a earache. Ear was pumping out blood, couldnt speak at all and he was in extreme pain. The wait was so long that he decided to go home and call a ambulance. He wanted to go to a different hospital but was rerouted back to GWV. They looked at him really quick and put him right back out in the waiting room, in horrible pain from 7pm to 5:15 am. That's a little over 10 hours that way and he's retaining water with a high sugar level . Ridiculous!!! My opinion is to stop spending all that money on this hospital to make it look fancy and get some help instead. This hospitals staff is horrible. TI called talked the hospital at 9am to get any kind of word on him and the emergency department kept disconnecting me. This went on for 40 minutes.
I took my daughter to the ER for a sports injury to her hand. We were triaged and X-rayed timely. The nurses were pleasant and kind and answered all our questions. The X-ray results were read by the radiologist quickly and the doctor explained the unfortunate fracture to us and was very thorough with the next steps we needed to take in our healing process. Check out was a breeze. Definitely our go to ER for future injuries.
