"Fresh City, founded in 2011 by Ran Goel, is a city farm and retailer of farm-fresh, organic produce and prepared food. Each day we make locally and organically sourced chef-inspired meals, salads, snacks and breakfasts from scratch. In late 2018 we acquired Mabel’s Bakery, a popular bakery in Toronto, producing artisan breads and pastries. Shortly after, in early 2019, we acquired The Healthy Butcher, a pioneer in organic and 100% grass-fed beef. We farm in Downsview Park as well as at Baka on Highway 427, and we have eight retail locations between our three brands. I bought a simple drink and when I went to pay for it the clerk pressed a bunch of keys on the pay terminal and handed it me... But at this point I figure adding the cost and taxes up he had added in a 10% tip for himself without asking. I didn't want to make a scene over a small amount but I would never go back to a store that treats customers like this, I would avoid this place.
Although the selection is really good and the quality of the food is excellelent, they expect you to tip 18% on grocery items - it felt really awkward when they gave me the POS system. Never been asked to tip at a grocery store before - especially on pantry items. They are also 30-40% more expensive than any other grocery store in the city including Whole Foods and Pusateris. Won't be back.
Warning!!! They ask for tips on groceries and you need to pick dollars to manually zero out the tip. Absurd that the business isn’t paying employees an appropriate wage and expect a gratuity for the ability to process a purchase. The world is losing its mind.
I love Fresh City Farms — the quality of the produce is incredible and I love that I can order so much variety that has been grown locally and organically. They also have a huge selection of other grocery items — I can get everything I need for the week from them. Their delivery service is fantastic, and I love that they provide a two hour delivery window so I know when to expect my order to arrive. I also find the prices to be great — I can get much higher quality produce from them and at a better price than what I would find in the stores in our neighbourhood Sobeys and Loblaws over charge for lesser quality. I will continue to get all of my groceries from Fresh City Farms.
I really wanted to to like this delivery and have it part of my week. The watermelon radishes were amazing and the selection was great. Tried delivery, for about a month and 2/3 times some of the produce was spoiled and one time the healthy butcher meat was off and had to be thrown out. Emailed them with no response. Edit -- Customer service reached out and refunded the item may have missed communication in spam, have fixed my rating they have been nothing but attentive and lovely ever since.
I shop here 1-2 times a week. It's so great to have fresh organic produce, milk, eggs, cheese, meat from the healthy butcher, and baked goods and prepared foods from Mabel's Bakery in one place. There's a wonderful variety and quality of products. And the staff are THE BEST. They are always super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Superb quality and array of produce available. The staff are always very friendly and knowledegable. I personally love being able to get my Mabels bakery bread fix there too, the ciabatta rolls are off the charts. Great place!
Just received our box. Everything was freezing cold. The Napa cabbage, turnips, romaine lettuce and leaf lettuce had wilted and turned slimy due to the extreme cold. Will be cancelling out order.
Wonderful quality foods - everything you'd need for a healthy, organic diet - vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free are all available. It's wonderful to support a socially responsible, sustainably-oriented business right here in the city - as a farmer's daughter I really appreciate the freshness! It's amazing too that they let you know the positive ecological impact your orders produce. #bravo
I can’t say enough about Fresh City Farms. We have been using their delivery service for one month and receiving the bright orange bag on my porch is the highlight of my week. We order produce, dairy, breads and prepared meals. I can honestly say all of the prepared meals have been nothing short of delicious! Everything has been bright and fresh and all of our orders have been correct, which is not the experience I’ve had with other delivery services. We take the easy prep jar salads to work for lunch and the meal kits have elevated ingredients so dinner always feels like a treat. So glad we found you Fresh City Farms!
