It's a great place to out and explore in all seasons. There are always great activities going on from sledding in the winter to open paddling nights in the summer. The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly. It's a great inexpensive outing for the whole family.

I broke my thumb on their winter slide, which had a poorly designed bottom section with a gap in the wood that clipped me going down at close to 50 km/hr. I'm not a litigious type, and accidents can happen anywhere. However, I feel Fort Whyte needs to correct that design AND offer more staff support and assistance at that slide, given how fast and dangerous if can be.

Fort Whyte is a great space both as a destination and for passing through. I have come here with friends several times simply to spend an afternoon on foot or on bikes. I also often ride my bike through Fort Whyte when taking the scenic route from point A to point B. To the north, its trails lead to the bike path along Sterling Lyon Parkway and to the Assiniboine Forest, so you are connected to many other trails. However, to extend your journey south of Fort Whyte, you have to take McGillvary Blvd for a bit, which isn't ideal. There have also been a few times when I've arrived at the south entrance on my bike only to realize that Fort Whyte is closed and the gate is locked, so be sure to check their hours as you plan your bike route.

This is a great site for trail hikes, and so much more. They offer many educational programs and activities. Great for families and adults. They offer kayak rentals on the pond for people to try or enjoy kayaking. They have a farm onsite and sell fresh foods. It's a beautiful site and always a pleasure walking around. They have a bison enclosure, fishing, canoe rentals, ice slide for toboganning. Clean washrooms. Also attended the fall Canada Goose staging and presentation this Fall which was spectacular. I highly recommend Fort Whyte.
