It's a nice store but you have to comprehend just how expensive it is.... Even the discounted fruits and vegetables are out of reach, especially taking into account that many of the clients are university students.$1 for a middle-sized potato is a stretch....
Overall, I find this grocery store to be very clean, organized, and easy to navigate. The aisles are spacious, making it easy to push a shopping cart through without bumping into other customers or displays. The lighting is bright, making it easy to see products, prices, and nutritional information. The store is well-stocked, and I have never had trouble finding the items on my shopping list. The produce section is particularly impressive. The fruits and vegetables are always fresh, with a wide variety of options to choose from. I particularly appreciate that they often carry locally grown produce, which is not always easy to find in other stores. Pricing in the produce section is also quite reasonable, making it easy to eat healthily on a budget. One thing I do find slightly frustrating about this store is the lack of staff available for assistance. While I have never had trouble finding what I need, there have been a few occasions where I needed help with a specific item or had a question about a product, and had trouble locating an employee who could help. However, this is a relatively minor issue and does not detract from my overall positive impression of the store. In terms of checkout, the store has plenty of cashiers available, so there is rarely a long wait. The staff are friendly and efficient, making the process quick and easy. The store also offers a self-checkout option, which I appreciate for quick trips when I only have a few items. Overall, I highly recommend this grocery store. The combination of a clean, well-stocked store and reasonable pricing makes it a go-to destination for my weekly grocery shopping.
Ample parking, large store, huge selection. It is a one stop shop. There is a food court, bakery, Flower shop, gifts and groceries. Everything is fresh, organized and clean. It’s expensive but they have good deals, and discounts. Tried a few bakery items, all were fresh and delicious. Large selection of international goods. Staff always welcoming and nice. I recommend going to a cashier over a self check out as it tends to be much faster.
This is purely a comment on the staff, not the prices. In the entire time I've shopped here I have encountered one employee who was substandard. The rest have been wonderful. Brian who I recognized from the Dundurn St. location walked me to the precise spot so I could find what I needed as he always has in the past. The cashier was efficient and friendly. My biggest complaint is Fortinos stopped selling 18 L refillable water bottles. I shop there far less as a result given the environmental impact.
I always enjoy shopping here, however lately with the cost of food rising and the prices charged here, I would at least expect product to be fresh . Last few times the "fresh" bread expires in a day, the meat expires in a day and I've had to sort through the "fresh" containers of berries at $4.99 a pint. Again, I enjoy the store, the freshly made hot counters are great but you have to do a better job of quality control especially with the cost. This past weekend, 3.5 bags of groceries was $185 which I don't mind paying but please get the quality back for the money spent.
It’s one of the better fortinos in Hamilton. They have an expansive eating area and a Joe Fresh as well. This is also one of the Fortinos that sells beer and wine. It’s our main grocery store and the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because of the price of groceries these days.
Listen, my human always drags me to this overpriced deli, but I put up with it because they always give me a free slice of meat! I mean, it's not enough to compensate for the outrageous prices, but hey, I'll take what I can get. And the layout of the store? Don't even get me started! It's like a maze in there. Sometimes I get so lost I have to bark for help. But I guess my human likes it, so I'll keep tagging along. Maybe one day they'll lower their prices and I can get a whole plate of meat to myself!
Lots of selection of food a day merchandise. Staff friendly and helpful in all departments. Prices better than some other Fortino locations. Maybe due to the university students being closer in order to attract them.
There's a couple of things that are absolutely bad about this location. I like the kosher yeast donuts this Fortinos carries. The problem is the donut display is self serve, but on two occasions I encountered a fellow shopper using hands instead of tongues to take the donuts. The worst one happened a week ago when two fellow men of my faith took liberty to fist the whole display as they couldn't be bothered to use the tongues. Management - check your cameras from that weekend morning. Disgusting. Secondly, there is an employee at the meat deli counter who has served 3 times. Every time, I ask for shaved thin slices. Each time , I get steak thick cuts as if her caliber is 10x thicker than everybody else's. Either their machines are incapable of thin slices or the lady is untrained or purposely daft... I've no idea which reason it is
Great store. A huge section for fresh produce. Large store with nice big aisles and never too crowded. Also lots of Specialty vegan Products.
