Fort Welikit Family Campground

This is my second time staying at this campground. We stayed here for our honeymoon trip to the black hills. I love this place because it is far enough away from all the traffic but still close enough that anything you could want to do is within a 30 min drive. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The bathrooms are cleaned every day and are the best camp bathrooms I've ever seen and we camp a lot. The park is nice and quiet. The camp spots are well spaced and very well maintained. There is so much wildlife that comes through in the evening too. I was able to get some really nice pictures of a young buck. Anyone looking for the best campground to stay for their trip, look no further. You will love it here. I did notice the last time I stayed there was a really nice guy that would carve wood sculptures. I was hoping to see him on this visit and take home another wood carving, however he is no longer there. I hope he is doing well wherever he is. On our next trip to the black hills we will be staying at Fort Welikit again! Thank you!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. The campground is close to several adorable towns and very close to the Needle Highway and Custer State Park. It's an easy drive to everything you want to see! The campsites are large and have nice big trees for shade. The bath house is very clean and we liked the individual shower restroom combo rooms. This facility is veteran owned. I can't say enough good things about it!

Great location to area attractions, friendly staff, nice sites, a great place for families. They have a cute Fort and teepee for children to explore. Wildlife in the park. Accommodations for large rigs. Nice showers, laundry and very close to very good restaurants.

Loved our time @ FT. WELIKIT. Had 2 grandchildren ages 13 & 8. They want to come back next year! Our site was good, laundry great. Kids loved the great playground. Or dog, Preston made new friends at the dog park! Saw deer at night. Definitely coming back.

We were highly pleased! Very friendly, woodsy, quiet, larger sites, full hookups and laundry also right down the road from custer state park.We actually tried to get 2 sites for a week longer and was going to cancel our stockade camp sites. We drove through stockade to check it out before arriving and liked Fort Welikit much better...but they were to booked up to acomidate. We now know for next time. Great place
