Good place to stay if you want to be in Custer City. Close to downtown and food. The Mickelson Trail is along one side of the property so bring your bike and enjoy unlimited scenic riding out your door. Friendly staff and clean rest rooms.

We were cycling on the Mickelson Trail and camped here. The trail runs by the campground. We set up our tent behind the office in a grassy shaded spot along a creek. It was a beautiful place to relax after a day of cycling. Lots of birds entertained us, along with rabbits and deer. Later, campground host Diane invited us to their Friday potluck dinner. Around 40 people, locals and tourists, joined in. We had a delicious dinner and met nice people. Best campground on our ride from Deadwood to Edgemont. We had lunch at Sage Creek restaurant, it was very good.

Friendly place downtown Custer. Right next to a large park with playground and a creek.

Very very small sites right on top of each other. No shade. Not the friendliest hosts. 2 unisex bathrooms with a shower in each. Skip it unless you're desperate.

During our 6 week RV trip this Summer we stayed at French Creek RV Campground. It was the most convenient campground in Custer and only 1 block from downtown. The wifi was very good unlike so many other campgrounds. Rock and Diane have a BBQ every Friday night for the guests and locals. We got to know several local characters and learn what life is really like in Custer SD. Rock can come on strong but he is one of the most caring people I have ever met. Diane is a sweetheart. It may not have some things campers are attracted to, but if you want a genuine Dakota experience, don't pass this up.especially on Friday night.
