Went with 3 friends without a reservation and got seated in the basement bar, it had cozy and romantic vibes. We ordered a bit of everything to share, both the presentation and the taste were great. The place, ambiance and service were amazing as well. It's a bit on the pricier side considering the portion sizes but it's worth it especially if you share with a group of people.
Awesome experience! Everything we ordered was really tasty, although the miso aged duck was a big highlight. The soy ice cream was also special, giving butterscotch or salted caramel vibes. Wine list was extensive and I would definitely return to explore the menu further. The fried chicken looked awesome but we were too full to order it.
Cool atmosphere and outstanding food. Everything tasted amazing, although the noodles were a bit too al dente per my preference. Chirashi bowl is a must, with real wasabi and pickled ginger. Got a cocktail that went great with the food too.
Wonderful culinary experience! From the outside it doesn't look like much, like an old souvenir shop. But inside the ambiance and the déco have their own aesthetic. Even the wine glasses are aesthetic. The cooks are in the middle of the restaurant so it's fun to sit at the bar. Special mention to the urchin mousse. The best is to take 3-4 plates and share. The prices are worth the experience.
Absolutely spectacular experience. We had Evelien hope the spelling is accurate who was super wonderful! We had more than one sample of every single sake and they were were all quite different and flavourful. The sake was all unique and seemed to be well selected since the variety was quite large. The food was exquisite. Each dish had a different flavour to it and the portions were actually quite good. I will say the final bill was not cheap but we spent about 4 hours there and the staff at no point made us feel unwelcome or like it was time to leave. Evelien even brought us a dessert. We had requested a variety of dishes and sake and were not disappointed. I think the sushi bowl that came with the rice paper was the favourite. We were able to roll our own…rolls. The tuna was perhaps my favourite that came with a delightful chimichuri garlic paste/sauce. Would certainly recommend and will be back. 100%.
Came here for dinner and was seated at the back near the kitchen although it was hot from the heat of the cooking, it was really cool as we could see the chefs preparing food. Food took a bit of time to come out as the place was packed, definitely make reservations! Service was amazing as the servers were attentive and thoughtful. My friends ordered tequila shots however, I do not drink and our server brought me a water shot so I can be part of their cheers! We ordered a few dishes to share and all were amazing! Some recommendations/ highlights were: Temaki sushi not pictured : this was a fun experience as we were able to build our own temakis with various variations of toppings. Definitely recommend!! Nanban chicken : perfectly seasoned and fried! The sauce was unique and very delicious. Tantan udon : the noodles were so chewy and bouncy and not too salty Hojicha creme brûlée : personally I love matcha and creme brûlée so this was the perfect dessert Overall, recommend this restaurant as it has great service, food, and vibes!!
Phenomenal restaurant that very quickly has made it to my list of favorite restaurants in Montreal. Each dish was excellent, the atmosphere is really cool and they have a great selection of sake and wine. As many have recommended, I tried the sea urchin mouse to start, the Chirashi bowl, fried chicken, seared miso duck, and for desert the Shoyu icecream. All excellent! I must say I was particularly impressed with the freshness of the fish in the Chirashi and the flavors in the desert so I would say those are musts. Bon appetit!
From the outside you could never guess this was a restaurant. Once you enter, it's like you've been transported through a portal into another world. The vibe is fantastic and it's as if all the clients who come in are in on this secret that this seemingly casual boutique is actually a hidden gem of a restaurant. The nanban fried chicken was crispy and tasty. They had a special when we went: duck tartare. The chirashi bowls were excellent too. I could come again to try other things on the menu!
I've been wanting to come to this place for a while, mainly because the owners have decided to use the emblematic souvenir shop and convert it into a nice retro restaurant-bar. As a Asian-Canadian, it definitely piqued my curiosity. When entering the bar, it does feel like taking a trip to Japan in the 90s. It is definitely a must-try Japanese fusion place and lives up to the hype! Food: although I am not the biggest fan of raw fish/meat in general, I can appreciate its freshness and texture which was the case here. Loved also their duck as it tasted smokey yet conserved its duck umami flavour. Found their seasonal vegetables a bit too salty for my taste but was pleasantly surprised by how good carrots taste grilled! Loved their chicken wings and spicy peppers at Yatai, would definitely want to eat those again. Drinks: very original drinks, love the variety. Although I personally don't like the taste of alcohol, I did love my drink sour cocktail Service: kind and friendly, which makes the dining experience even better! Parking: multiple parking options if you are willing to pay for it and put yourself at risk while driving in downtown Montreal lol but very doable by metro as it is right next to metro Place-D'armes
Don’t be deceived by the entrance, I came here with some pretty high expectations and wanted to try out the sushi and sashimi. The attached photos are what we ordered which was the sashimi and the chirashi sushi. The chirashi sushi is a mix of all the sashimi, so if your looking for a sampler, that’s your best option, the sashimi is served on top of a bed of rice. Overall the sashimi was phenomenal, very fresh and tasty. Service was also great throughout the service. The cocktails were good. When it comes to the vibe of the restaurant is pretty cool, there’s bar seating around the bar, and there is also bigger tables on the side if your a bigger party. Overall for the price and quality of food, Fleurs et Cadeaux is an excellent choice for sushi in montreal.
