Five Rivers Environmental Education Center Five

Not crowded if you go weekday. Trails are pretty short. So if you are expecting a nice long hike you won't find it here ! Very little parking so if you go on weekends you might run into trouble parking. I was hoping to catch the beavers on the beaver trail but didn't see any. In fact , the only thing I did see were a few butterflies and a lot of bugs swarming me as I walked. It's a nice short walk though !

Nice place. They have multiple overlapping trails. The longest being about 2 miles. Very relaxing to stroll through.

You can find field animals if you know how to look. I saw a yellow bird, crawfish, frogs (recharge lake) & tadpoles, heron, chipmonks and stuff just after spending about 20 minutes wandering mostly Old Field Trail. You've got to walk quietly as wild animals are skittish and excellent at camouflage if they detect something approaching. I'm sure the DEC employees can advise you where to look if you visit their visitors center. I could see how this would be good habitat for kids to visit and also learn how to find and approach critters if you don't live secluded in the country where you grow up learning these things. But this place isn't just good for kids... If you pack a bottle of water and some sunscreen it's a great spot to wander around to burn off lunch!

Great for a hike, a run or a visit of the museum. Great community and festivals. Nice views. Endless trails! Love it!
