Frankly outstanding taste. Most Indian places around Canada adjust their cuisine to tone everything down heat and spice but we’ve got the real unadulterated stuff at Famous Curry Garden. It won’t be for everyone even those who believe they like Indian but it is the real deal. On top of that, the portions are sized well, the food isn’t swimming in grease and the naans are delectable. Fantastic service as well. Highly recommended.
It tastes very authentic. I feel it’s too spicy. Curry and rice should be ordered separately, if there is a combo will be perfect.
Visited for the first time with friends on Saturday . It was a fabulous experience. We ordered veg samosas, panner tikka, panner lababdar with tandoori naan, aloo kulcha, angeer kofta and veg biryani. Every dish was fantastic but amongst these complementary dish was biryani. Loved it!
Tried first time. Had Veg Kebab, Paneer Makhni, Mix Veg Korma,Garlic Chilli Naan, Garlic Naan. Taste was amazing especially Veg Kebab, Paneer makhni and Garlic Chilli naan was awesome. Very eye catching patios and with really nice staff.
So delicious! Best curry we’ve had in Halifax! We were encouraged when a bunch of Indian cricket players came in, and we could understand why they were there once our food came! We will definitely be back!!Recommended dishesChicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Jalfrezi, Butter Chicken
Taste of Papdi chat was super yummy. Had amezing experience to ate authentic Punjabi food as I ate in Amritsar, Punjab earlier. service was good & staff are quite friendly. Highly recommended.Food: 5/5
I am West Indian and therefore doesn’t mind a little spice but I had it the first time and it was too spicy. I figured it was a culture thing so no worries however my Indian coworker told me that I can tell them how spicy to make it. I ordered a second time and asked for “mild spice”, but it was still spicy as hell. I had to have two glasses of milk to eat it. I was like “ok the next time I order I will just say no spice at all”. Finally, the third time I made sure to tell her “no spice” over the phone and she confirmed. When I went to pick it up, I asked “no spice right?” She smiled and nodded her head. I got home and my household and I couldn’t eat it at all. It was spicier than all the other times I have ever bought it. I felt my chest burning when I tried to eat the chicken Biriyani rice because of how spicy it was. I am not saying the food tastes bad, it tasted rich in seasoning and was flavourful but the murderous level of the spice ruins it for us. If this is the way it’s made then I understand that it might just not be for my household. All the best in your endeavours Dietary restrictions: They’re unable to go easy on the spice. I tried three times. It seems that you have to either like spicy food or don’t buy here.
Great taste and portion size is good for what you pay. Highly recommended for Indian food. We usually have vegetarian meals here and the taste truly deserves the high ratings you see for this place.
Simply unbelievable food! The chicken jalfrezi was so authentic, as was the keema kulcha ie keema naan. See pic. We asked to make ours spicy and oh yes it was spicy! Here you can expect friendly service, food that takes a bit longer because it's cooked fresh for you, and overall an East Indian café feel. They have beer too but don't expect much on the alcohol side of things; come for the curry and you won't be disappointed
This was the most delicious Indian food we have had in a very long time! The flavors were perfectly balanced and we enjoyed every bite of our curries! Thank you so much, the dinner was the perfect highlight of our day in Halifax.
