Fairground Inn

I used to like the Fairground Inns. I work in Monroe and anytime I needed to stay overnight, I would go to the Fairgrounds first. They have decent rooms at decent prices. Last night, I needed to stay overnight again. I did not want to put the room on my credit card and wanted to pay cash. When I got to Fairgrounds, I went in and realized that I left my card at work. When I told the clerk that I wanted to pay cash but had to go back to work to get my card for them to keep on file in case of damages(even though all I do is sleep and bathe). He informed me that it was only credit that night. When I said are you kidding me he said no we are only doing credit tonight. I said well then I guess I will be taking my business somewhere else. He said okay. So long story short I now prefer Monroe Motel. They like any form of payment (cash or card). They also have really nice rooms and a decent price.

Ruffing it at its finest. Must be good with noise choose traffic or train. Free ear plugs.. Real old school.. How i like it!

Clean and quiet with breakfast. Breakfast was good, people were nice. The furniture in side the room was 'ok'

Stayed for two weeks and the rooms are nice and clean. The staff very friendly and talkative. Treated me like a real person and the prices was a blessing. Only thing missing was a spa and pool.

We spent two nights and was given a room on the back side of the hotel. Unfortunately, about 75 foot away was a railroad. Since the trains were coming up to a traffic light, they blew their whistle seemingly at our doorway. The room was clean but the queen size mattress was very thin and the bed felt like you were sleeping on plywood. Their continental breakfast is put away by 9am even on weekends and there is nothing hot except coffee or tea. The rooms had microwave and fridge (fridge didnt work real well and froze all items) but no coffee pot, coffee or tea. No pool available. Ice had to be obtained through the office. Unless you are on a VERY strict budget I would try one of the hotels across the street. When we booked there were pretty full so choices were slim. Next time we will go elsewhere and book sooner as we now know when the event will be a year in advance
