Third time is a charm. It took us three times to come here. First we had to cancel and second time the restaurant canceled on us, finally, third time, we were able to make it. The restaurant is full and hopping. The decor, the music and furniture, everything was very colorful and vibrant. We ordered a drink of Paloma and Margarita by a different waiter. Then the rest of the service was by PedroM, who was excellent. The place was very busy, so to attend to us, it took a bit of time. Then drinks arrived, which were awesome. Then we savor our dishes of mushroom quesadillas, shrimp tacos and pulled chicken tostadas. All were delicious. Our drinks were in the house because the restaurant canceled our previous reservation. That was a good customer service. Overall, good experience.
The food is absolutely delicious! I knew the brand and have tried their tacos many times but the new opening in Verdun doesn't betray their signature. The service is great and the decor is always fabulous! I recommend the Barbacoa and the E-steak tacos ! Add some tabasco for realness! Love it and will come back for more !Food: 5/5
Wow ! As someone who is very picky towards mexican restaurants I was skeptical about this one . I’m gonna start saying that the portions are small for the price so I agree 100% with other reviews . However the food was AMAZING , the guac was real guac not the frozen they give you at some places that they made at the start of the day and has been sitting in the fridge the whole day. Real guac , the tacos were delicious and every dish that I got to try I loved it . Service and atmosphere was 10/10 , staff seem to enjoy their work environment and happy to be there , super kind and super attentive. I can’t wait to go back their drinks were also delicious . A must try if you’re looking for a night out with good food , good drinks and great service .
Fun tapas style Tex Mex restaurant. Darkly lit but lively, reminds me of Street monkeys further down. We sat at the bar, the waitress was friendly, but tried hard to upsale us - but not as aggressively as I've seen at the other branches of this chain. We weren't starving, so we split the guacamole entree and a few tacos. The guac was good, but the portion was tiny for the price. Tacos were good, not the best I've ever had but above average. Eclectic fillings like orange crush sauce were interesting. Not a great variety of beers, we settled on brasseur de Montréal IPA. Overall a good experience, and a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
I had a dinner reservation with friends last night. the service, atmosphere and overall experience was fantastic! We went with the tasting menu which was a great value and experience. But love that you can dine very inexpensive as well as the prices / value / quality are better than many other Mexican restaurants in Montreal. All the food and drinks were delicious and was given a good tequila recommendation which I enjoy to sip. So happy to have one of my favourite Mexican restaurants now nearby my home! Will be back often I’m sure! Highly recommend! Only comment would be is to call if you have a larger group. The online booking limited me at 6ppl but there was more space while we were there. Part of my group cancelled anyways so it didn’t affect me but heads up to call as to not miss out on a great place!!
An amazing experience on all levels. Food, service, ambiance...all were beyond my expectations. Our waiter Christian was friendly and helpful and made us feel like family. I recommend the Pollos Hermanos tacos for an excellent fried chicken experience, and polish it off with a shot of Peloton de la Muerte Mezcal to finish the evening on a smokey and spicy note.
I absolutely LOVED this new location on Wellington, in Verdun. The menu is varied & delicious! The were ! Couldn't have been happier with my experience! I'll definitely go back!
I started off with the cucumber-mango salad. The presentation was nice, but the mangoes weren't ripe. It wasn't as good as I remember. Three of us shared a plate of guacamole and chips. The combo was delicious. I had the general tao cauliflowers. They were covered in too much rib sauce and were served alone, without even a sprinkle of something crunchy, herbs for texture or a spoon of rice to balance out the strong acidity of the sauce. I finished off my meal with the cauliflower tacos, of which there were only two. They were made vegan by removing the sauce and doubling the guac. They were crispy on the outside and warm and tender on the inside, but bland. I tried to flag down a waiter for 10 minutes to get a slice of lime, but they were all too busy, so I relunctantly ate the tacos plain. I have a small appetite, so I was full after 3 tapas. Like every other escondite, the decor was very trendy and eclectic. The music was too loud, so we couldn't hear each other speak across the table.
Very good! I've been to two other Escondite locations and this one didn't disappoint. The server was new but still very helpful and kind. Service was very fast. There seems to be a good amount of space since there's upstairs seating as well. The portions are small for the price, but at least they're delicious!
Great new addition to the Escondite family. Fun atmosphere, jazzy decor and great service. Highly recommend starting with the guacamole. The tacos are very tasty, good for sharing. Perfect spot for a Friday or Saturday night out with friends. Taking the customary shot of tequila will spice up your night.Food: 5/5
