Waited for 20 mins in line to order. Only 2 customers were allowed inside. Had 2 pistachio croissants and cappuccino. The croissant was good, less cream on the inside and more nuts on the outside, very flaky and crunchy. Definitely on the more expensive side. Customer service was okay. You order in the front and you go to the patio. Food was given in take out containers, I guess because we ordered only bakery items not lunch menu. They apparently make approx only 6-7 dozens of pistachio croissants in a day, so if you want to try that definitely go earlier, as we were the last orders.
Tried Emmer for the first today as I heard about this place a lot. After waiting in line for 20+ mins I was able to get in and ordered a butter croissant, rum caramel croissant and an olive oil pistachio cake, plus an Americano. ~$40!! Croissant were delicious but buttery, actually very buttery and Small! Olive cake was just okay and the coffee drink didn’t worth a buck. And the staff and the owner were super entitled, rude and not friendly-unfortunately! I’m not sure if I’m giving it another try as you can find better croissant & coffee with reasonable prices. Not recommended.
Got an almond croissant. Good flavors. Very dense croissants though. Not too many layers, but a great crispy outer shell. One croissant can be filling. Would I go again ? Maybe if I was in the area. But probably not worth the effort to go all the way. Huge loaves for sourdough looked enticing though, albeit expensive at approximately 13$ a loaf.
Emmer is incredible. They have the best croissants in the city. Everything they sell is fresh and service is usually pretty efficient. I’ve been to their patio twice and have gotten take-out from them in other occassions and the quality is always mesmerizing. Highly recommend their roast beef sandwich and the croque monsieur. Both amazing and better if consumed right away. They have two menus, one is the breakfast menu and it only goes until 11:30am and then they have their lunch menu starting at 11:45am. If you show up in that 15 min window you’ll have limited options for food as they’re transitioning. The best thing to do? Show up early and get the baked goods before they disappear. Prices aren’t necessarily low, but for the quality you’re getting its definitely worth it. The portions are also generous and filling.
The $9.50 pistachio croissant was much chewier and crusty-er ? than I expected. There's a large heated outdoor patio which is nice. My curiosity of the lauded pistachio croissant is complete, now I'll retreat back to Geste's flaky and interesting creations.
Ordered the croque which was excellent, highly recommend trying it! It was a great combination of savoury and creamy with the perfectly toasted sourdough. The butter croissant was a bit chewy to my taste, but I look forward going back for the pistachio croissant.
Worth the hype. Got here at 9:30 and famous pistachio croissants were sold out. The rest of the pastries were very good. Mushroom bechamel brioche was the best! Had to wait ~30 to get in. Plan accordingly
Had the breakfast sandwich on the outdoor uncovered part of the patio on a rainy Thursday morning. The staff was incredible- friendly and helpful- particularly as I had my dog so they wiped down a bench for me, brought my food out in take-out format as well as a plate, checked in regularly. Breakfast sandwich was hot, perfect English muffin, sausage was perfect. Fluffy scrambled egg.
Came here for the famous pistachio croissant. We arrived just after opening on a Sunday and there was already a long line. I take that as a good thing though because that means it's definitely good. The pistachio croissant lived up to the hype with a ton of sliced pistachios on top and a gooey pistachio filling in the middle. Really liked the flaky texture of the croissant too. The surprise hit for me was the breakfast sandwich though. I believe they make the sausage patty themselves? Either way, it was so good, loved its seasoning and the english muffin it comes in was no slouch either, which is expected from a top-notch bakery. The sauce has that buffalo/hot sauce flavor to it so it has a bit of a kick to it. I enjoy that but the person I shared it with said they weren't such a fan of the sauce, but they still somehow ate their half no problem. haha
I think this place is overrated. The croissant is buttery, but I would prefer them heat it up a bit. The mushroom quiche’s flavour is good, but it’s super cold and when we asked for it to heat up, they said they can’t do that because it will fall apart. A bit disappointed. Was really looking forward to it. The Halloumi sandwich is average. I like the sourdough bread but that’s about it. Overall I think this place is not worth for the wait.
