It is a incredibly nice and charming place! Not to mention that this place has been around for many years and hosting some of our most famous professional athletes. Great food, compliment along with great services, if you are around 17th Ave, please do visit. Love the fresh raw oysters.
I was craving a good seafood pasta and was pleasantly surprised by this place! Had raw oyster off the shell for the first time and really enjoyed it, probably the best seafood pasta I've had in Calgary and husband puts it in his top 20 meals ever. Must try!
I like this place it's really good! the prices are very reasonable for what you get. I order the oysters and they are always fresh. I had the lunch seafood risotto and it was soooo good. Only $20 too. I've been here multiple times and I haven't eaten anything I didn't like :
Service was lacking. We were in on a Sunday night and there was only one server for the whole almost full restaurant. We felt bad asking for anything. Lobster was over cooked but the oysters were top shelf. Overall the prices were very reasonable. I would go back just for the oysters and drinks and maybe dessert. Preferably on a night where there is more wait staff.
The family came here for dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. It has been a few years since we were last here. I had booked reservations online which was quick and painless. When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted right away but even though we had reservations there was some talk about where to sit us. The main dining was near full and so they offered patio or upstairs. It would be more private upstairs as there was no one up there but they warned us that service was slow. Eventually, they sat us in a booth in the main dining area but it was touch and go in the beginning. Not a great impression. Our server mentioned to us that he was new. We found him very friendly and knowledgeable. We came here for the oysters - we ordered 1 Irish Point, 1 Fanny Bay and 2 Malpeque I wanted to try one. The Malpeque also was the feature Oyster which means they are $1.50 each. I don't usually eat oysters but thought it was good. My wife says the Irish Point and Fanny Bay were good. Because the Malpeque was good and really meaty we ordered 7 more I wanted one more. 5* for the Oysters. Lamb Shank 4* - Wife ordered this and said it was tender and good. Lamb Burger 2* - Daughter ordered this and patty was small and dry. Lobster Pasta 4* - Son ordered this and lobster tail was meaty and sweet ad pasta was tender. I decided to order 3 appetizers for my meal. Onion Rings - 3* - basic Korean Spicy Chicken Wings 4* - Good kick, but the wings were not that meaty. Seafood Chowder 4* - Lots of things in the chowder. Broth was flavourful but could have been thicker. Service before we got our meals ordering and during our meal was great. 5*. Getting the bill and getting our leftovers packed was a little slow. 3*. Decor inside was quite nice - old world feel. We may not come back for dinner but maybe for the Oysters, some appetizers, and drinks.
I went as a group of 3 on a Sunday night and it was a full house. The oyster of the day is $1.50 each, which is a great deal. I highly recommend getting the Fanny Bay oysters if you are looking for a plump and creamy texture. Those cost a bit more than $1.50 but they were fantastic and totally worth it. We were a little disappointed with the surf and turf. The lobster was over done and was rubbery. On the flip side, the bacon wrapped steak was excellent. We didn't enjoy the risotto either, it was a bit runny. The kale Cesar salad was pretty average. All in all, this is a great place for oysters and all the other menu items are pretty average not super special.
Loved it! Great food fair price! Went on a Monday with my Hubby for some oysters and a couple appetizers. Greg the server was fanatic very knowledgeable very attentive . Highly recommend will for sure be back!
The best Gnocchi in Calgary. Most of gnocchi are very salty but I finally found genuine gnocchi! Other dishes were so good too.Recommended dishesShellfish Gnocchi, Oysters Florentine
Came in for the $1.50 oyster deal. I called ahead to confirm it and they said they weren't allowed to tell me what oyster it was - they wouldnt even tell me if it was East or West Coast. I think this almost deterred us from coming as we don't like west coast oysters. Anyways we chanced it. Came in - it was dead and we were the only customers in the building. Beer provided was flat and sent back, to which they corrected. The oysters were decent, some weren't shucked properly as they were still attached. But still liked them. Servers were friendly. Beer was expensive at $10 for something on tap. I'd be back still for another oyster deal as that is a great value for good oysters.
If you’re coming here, would recommend solely on oysters and dessert! Ordered shellfish gnocchi, black tiger prawns, variety platter of oysters, chocolate mousse, and a virgin Cesar. Gnocchi was good. Prawns didn’t wow me. Oysters were fantastic. Would come again just for the oysters. Dessert options here are great— recommend the banana and mousse options. Service was good. They were understaffed as it was one person serving the entire second floor. Interesting venue but a little outdated.
