Elaine’s Books is wonderful! It is not only St. John's only used bookstore, but it also sells high-quality used-books from a large selection - both in person or online! When I did go to the store - the service was super friendly!

I was looking for a book of First Nations stories to send out to a friend who's having her first child in England... just a reminder of Mom's West Coast roots. After hours and hours of searching I finally found Elaine's Books online, and the exact title I was looking for.  It was a bit of a challenge navigating the time difference between Vancouver and St. John's, but Elaine was very prompt at returning my call and the purchase and shipping were completely painless!  Just received my book today and I'm over the moon! Thank you so much, Elaine!

You rock!!! What a gem and Elaine went above and beyond searching for books on my list. I listened to her recommendation on Norman Mailers the executioners song...and I cant put it down. Good things it's 1100 pages.  Next door the coffee shop is great as well;

Elaine's has all sorts of goodies tucked away in it. All the artwork on the walls is for sale too. My favourite part of the store is the children's book section - you can find old copies of Nancy Drew and Enid Blyton books which brings back a lot of nostalgia! If you're looking for a good browse and to find something unexpected to read then I highly reccomend it!

such a cute little bookstore!! the stacks of books can be a little overwhelming but they're happy to point you in the right direction if you ask! loved the variety and beautiful editions.

I love it. such a cosy atmosphere, which is perfect for a second hand bookstore. the staff were great; very welcoming, and let me browse to my heart's content. they had a wide variety of books, from local interest to philosophy and everything in between. I probably could have spent hours there, so I'm going to make sure I'm not in a hurry from now on.

This place is a jewel tucked away in busy downtown St. John's. I sent Elaine a list of books I was looking for class and she found us a couple. Very responsive and friendly. Highly recommend!

Elaine's Books in St. John's, Newfoundland is a wonderful place to  browse for a book here you will find many hidden treasures.   Elaine's keen sense of literary value is well demonstrated in the excellent selection she has chosen to stock.  This is a real independent bookstore, a small place but full of great books.
