Ok here’s the deal … the beds are new and the pillows are great !! … the room is clean and the TV works fine !!nThe location is optimal - walking distance to Matty O’Sheas and Rob Roy’s is connected to the hotel - both restaurants serve excellent food !!nKhan the owner/mgr is an absolute gentlemen, and all the staff are wonderful to deal with. We chose this place last minute while visiting Ottawa for a three-day museum trip, and it worked out great. The property is a bit dated but extremely clean, with very comfortable beds, clean linen and good breakfast options included. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the lake views were a nice bonus. About an hour from the main attractions, but overall excellent value for money. Hair dryer, towels, and basic toiletries soap and shampoo, microwave, tiny fridge, coffee maker were provided. I booked a room for the night and when I arrived to check in I was informed that there was a manager's decision regarding my booking and they refused to honor the booking. I booked the room through a third party website at a discount. I was informed that I had to contact the third party website to get my refund and that they would decline the payment on their end in the morning?? What kind of place does this to their honest, paying customers? I've never been more confused and felt more disrespected in my life! Stay far far away from this place! They have a good location, but aside from that, horrific customer service! I'm now scrambling to find a room to stay for the night and I'm left to just trust that they're going to get my money back sometime soon? Not a chance! Anyone looking for a place to stay while in Smiths Falls, DO NOT BOOK AT THE ECONOLODGE!!!

Good hotel considering the price. Rooms are worn out, but not dirty. Amazing view and location, lot of parking space.

We stayed here for one night. The staff was friendly and check-in was quick. The beds were clean, which was a positive.nThat said, the hotel itself is very run down. It feels like it was once a nice place, but now it’s in serious need of a complete renovation—or closure.nParking: When you arrive, the parking situation is unorganized. It’s just an unmarked lot by the building where cars park randomly. There are no lights, which makes it feel unsafe.nBuilding & Cleanliness: The staff seems to be trying to keep the place clean, but the overall state of the property is beyond what they can manage. The elevator, for example, was dirty, with dust and grime stuck in the vent overhead. The floor where we stayed looked half-abandoned, with some rooms shut down or mid-renovation. The door to our room was difficult to open, likely because it’s been painted over too many times.nRoom: The room had a balcony, but it was unusable due to its poor condition though it did offer a nice view that hinted at the hotel’s better days. Inside, the basics were there: microwave, fridge, and coffeemaker, which was convenient. The TV worked fine, and again, the beds were clean. Unfortunately, everything else was in bad shape—old furniture, cracked walls, and a toilet that didn’t work properly. The AC unit was positioned right next to the bed, so we had to cover it to avoid being blasted with air while sleeping. On the positive side, we did not notice the cigarette smell that other guests have mentioned.nBreakfast: Breakfast was a disappointment. The coffee tasted like it had been brewed several times, making it difficult to drink. The pancake machine was broken, only spitting out dime-sized undercooked bits. The only real options were bread, cereal, and yogurt—no protein of any kind. If you want to fill up on bread and weak coffee, this is the breakfast for you. Otherwise, skip it.nOverall: This hotel is overpriced for what it offers. While it served its purpose for one night, the building is old, worn down, and in need of a major renovation. There are definitely better deals in the area.
