An awesome classic American style smokehouse. It is located in a great location which is amazing for people watching while you eat. The food is excellent and the portion sizes are great. The atmosphere was enjoyable and the music choice really makes you feel like you are in a proper American smokehouse. Located right next to the castle you can enjoy watching tourists milling around while you eat.
Fancy some American style food in Windsor? - Bluegrass BBQ is your place. Perfectly placed right by the Windsor Castle, Bluegrass BBQ serves a choice of food and drinks and provides a nice, friendly service. Gets quite busy, the place itself isn't big and the wait can a bit but it is easily compensated by a good food and a view of the castle from the window. Would recommend especially if you travelled from outside of Windsor or the UK Vegetarian options: Good choice of vegetarian options on the menu. Kid-friendliness: Friendly staff make kids clearly welcome Wheelchair accessibility: On the ground floor the space can me made available for a wheelchair.
These guys know what they are doing in the kitchen and have some of the best flavours. We had the Bluegrass burger, Chicken burger, wings and Pork Wing. Had a minor issue with 1 which was sorted out right away by the very helpful staff and we all enjoyed the really nice lunch. Will be visiting again soon.Food: 5/5
This place is THE place to pig out on a good burger, they give you a good portion size I hope this doesn't change in future and the staff I'd friendly. If you are used to eating red meat or just want a good view with your meal, this is the place! They also offer a range of American sodas that you won't find anywhere else! They definitely put most burger places to shame!
Located near the castle, friendly staff and good service. The ribs and burnt ends tasted good but I would say portion size was not good I say it was more a third of rack of ribs not half. Onion rings and frickles batter was crunchy and good but i felt they needed to change the oil. I did see a burger which looked good
It was super quiet but it was a Sunday! The food was delicious and good portions, however service took quite a while despite us being almost the only people in the restaurant - assume they were preparing for close up. We will definitely come back!Food: 5/5
Lovely little bar/restaurant, staff were very nice, food was delicious & came out quite quickly considering it was Jubilee Saturday so quite busy. Toilets very clean, but only had 2, & lots of stairs to get to them, not so good when you have bad knees!! Hence the 4 * Would eat there again
I don’t know why but I had high hopes for this place. Finally, an American breakfast/BBQ joint in Windsor. However, it was pretty disappointing. I am obliged to leave one star to qualify for the review so in the end , in my opinion this restaurant will receive less stars than they desire but more than they deserve. Let me start with the staff who were nice and pleasant. They were apologetic for a few dishes and about the inability to serve some non-brunch items. This was sadly the best part of the experience. Booking process The website informs you that you don’t need to call to book as you can reserve for any table size Online. I tried to book for 8 people and the process appears to be outsourced to OpenTable. However you can’t book for 8 people so the max I could book for was 6. Not a great start, I called to confirm and couldn’t get through Eg no one picked up. I wrote to Open Table and got a reply the evening before the day. Fine in the end but not smooth. Parking This restaurant is in prime location for castle tourists and/or those loci by walking distance. It’s not too friendly for anyone with a car but this is more or less a common problem for that general location. Food and Drink Let’s talk first about the highlights: The Bacon is streaky bacon. This is the best thing about the place. A bit over cooked for my taste but that’s me. The chocolate milk is good and so is the Welch’s grape juice. Other than that there is almost nothing authentic American. There were a lot of problems, one problem was there was no condiments on the table. No salt, no pepper, and no hot sauces or bbq sauces. Condiments are a way of life for American cuisine, this would have been a simple low cost bonus. On the website the restaurants boasts some great condiments, learn from Nando’s and Ramen places and get the clients tasting your sauces. Lots of talk of “American Pancakes” or “Fluffy Pancakes”. Sadly I have seen fluffier Crepes. The flavor was ok but the Baconana pancake we ordered had three pancakes, which placed on top of each other was probably the size of one American Fluffy pancake. You can buy American pancake mix at most stores now, this would have been better. Maple syrup comes in paper cups, better to have one glass one filled to the top for each table. I understand portion control but if people need more they will ask anyway and if someone doesn’t eat it, it goes to waste. The chicken and waffle was a disaster. Sorry guys, but buy a waffle iron or take it off the menu. The one we had were these store bought waffles topped with some sort of popcorn chicken which tasted like the store bought kind too. Chicken and waffle can be done right but waffles need to be fresh/home made and the fried chicken needs to be fresh too. The brisket hash was not great. Seemed cooked earlier and heated up. The eggs were way over done for my taste, they were liked boiled eggs. The brisket was too chewy for me and hash browns weren’t something I recognized. The onions were nice and the tomatoes were under seasoned. Kids short stack, had all The same problems of the Baconana just 2 pancakes instead of 3 and the sausages were ok. So overall - we couldn’t try anything from the BBQ menu except the brisket which was quite dry so I will visit again and try the BBQ but as an American Brunch place… a lot more work needed around pancakes and the general authenticity of the American cuisine. A lot of things also seemed either store bought or not made fresh. In my opinion, to win these days fresh is key. The restaurant is a good idea, drew us in, if some changes can be made the concept works. Will try again in 6-12 months. Good luck.
We booked into the place after finding it on the Internet and planning a trip to Windsor. The food was pretty good. We shared one of the pit board platters. The service was okay... Far from good and a lack of product knowledge. Not a great atmosphere downstairs... Maybe it would be better up? I HATE places that are an "optional" service charge. If you can't pay your staff then please just add £10 to the bill!!! Toilets are grotty. Chipboard with cleaning cupboards on view on the way to the loo.
We ate here out of pure hunger and not wanting to walk anymore and it was a good choice. We got the 3 for £15, great deal btw, buffalo chicken was a bit spicy loaded Mac and cheese and loaded fries. Solid food with solid flavors, and a great location just across from the Windsor Castle visitors entrance and exit.
