Dr. Thomas G. Matkov, MD

My husband and I have both had surgery with Dr. Matkov. He is a great caring surgeon and takes the time explain all procedures. We feel honored to know him.

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Matkov and his practice was very unfavorable. When I called to schedule a procedure with Dr. Matkov, the lady I spoke with was very nice and helped me find a time in which Dr. Matkov would be at the office closest to my home. When I asked her about the specifics of the procedure, including the expected recovery time, she mentioned that I should expect to take the next day off. I followed her advice and took both the day of the procedure and the following day off work. No problem. As the appointment drew near, I was a bit concerned that I hadn't been given any instructions about how to prepare and what to expect. When I called the office to inquire, I was told that my appointment was for a consultation, not a procedure. The doctor would "see" if I could schedule the procedure at some undetermined "later date". When I explained that there must be some mistake, as I had already scheduled the procedure, she told me this wasn't possible. When I expressed my frustration, given the fact that I had already scheduled the time off work and moved my schedule around to accommodate 2 days off, she was unfazed. Finally, she half-heartedly offered to speak to the Doctor to see if they could tentatively schedule my procedure the day after my consultation. Great! Sounds like a good way to fix a problem which they created while keeping a patient happy. When the nurse called back later that day, she told me that the Doctor advised me to find another practice. Stunned. Let's review, the office makes a mistake when scheduling my appointment, not only are they not willing to TENTATIVELY schedule my procedure, but they effectively shut the door in my face. All I can say is THANK YOU! Frankly, I'm relieved that I discovered just how unprofessional this doctor is before I placed my health in his hands. There are way too many quality practitioners in the area to waste any time on those who don't understand the basic concept of treating your patients with respect. My recommendation is to keep looking…

By far the worst hospital I've ever been to. They don't really care about their patients and they never give any good real answers. If you can hold out going to a different hospital, do it.
