This review is strictly for @Metrolinx.nnThe Go train station located at Downsview Park is great and conveniently located above the TTC station.nHowever, I believe the planners behind this go train station either ran out of budget or forgot who the main target market is.nnThere are only a few benches available around the station. In fact, if you go to the TTC floor, there are more benches available for ttc riders vs. regional train riders how?!.nnPeople with kids, visibilities, elderly folks all had to stand as the only bench available near the Go train platform was rightfully taken.nnRegional trains are not as prompt as ttc trains, so why not incorporate a seating area for riders?nnThe walk from Vitti's st roundabout to the station has no weather coverage or benches outside for riders or passenger pickup. We live in Canada @Metrolinx, forgetting these small things means you are ignoring the obvious.nnBiggest question has always been: How do we increase riders in the Go train?nWell, make stations fit for long hauls, have washrooms available, have ticket booths available, a convenience store, benches, anything to make *your* riders more comfortable.nnIf payment compliance is still an issue, place Presto machines in obvious, hard to ignore areas.nThere's only 1 machine in front of the main platform. As a result, all riders tap at the same time. If you had 3 or 4, people wouldn't rush to tap.nnMaybe Europe can teach a thing or 2,
A great, modern and beautiful place to wait for your train. The modern and stylish station itself not only offers a great view, but also a heated place with wi-fi for you to wait for your train. The station itself features escalators, elevators, tv screens displaying the departure times including what times the train will arrive at stations after this one and a service desk that wasn't working while I was there. If you are waiting, I would recommend to do that inside the station, as outside the little go shelters provide basically no insulation from the outside world. The GO trains are also, really cool. You can find bathrooms both on the train and inside the station itself.
Nice station with a cavernous and grand interior. The connections to the station used to be worse than they are now, and it's a bit of a hike to the Sheppard buses. However, the station provides the fastest connection to the GO train from the TTC, and it is always clean and quiet. It also provides the fastest way downtown from the area via GO's Barrie line which runs hourly. If you missed your train, the subway takes you to the downtown for about 20 minutes longer but it is much more frequent. If the schedule with go doesn't line up, the subway is faster, and you're connecting from a bus on Sheppard I recommend going on the the bus for the extra 2-5 minutes down the road to Sheppard West for a better connection to the subway. Downsview Park nearby has some decent spots for railfanning and you can see the twice-weekly Via Rail Canadian to Vancouver going by this modern transit stop.
Very beautiful station, stunning architecture and fits the area very well. This station provides connections to the GO Train Barrie line along with TTC Line 1. This station has a customer service booth for GO transit along with TTC customer service staff on site to help out if needed. There are no washrooms on this station and no direct connection to TTC routes 101, 84 or 107. To get these routes you must walk north to Sheppard Avenue West. This station really provides a simple connection from TTC to GO so if you are heading into North York and use the Barrie line this is a station you must for sure try for your commute!
A good place to wait for the train. Large covered area where you exit from the TTC and little shelters along the rail track for those days when you get caught outside in some bad weather. This station is fully wheelchair accessible. On the other side of the tracks is another building where you can exit to catch street level buses. Only negative is the location that it's not easy to get to unless you take transit meaning that to get here by car or walking is more difficult.
