The accessibility at this station is very poor. The elevator is out-of-order so people with mobility issues or lots of luggage are forced to use the stairs. When departing the station into the nearby community centre, there are additional stairs and no ramp. There is also very little signage ie: an exit sign to show you how to depart from the station as someone arriving on the train.
Danforth Station is pretty nice. Probably the best station that you can actually hear what they say over the intercom. Easy to navigate around as they have signs everywhere from on and off the platform. They also have the Go Machines so that you don't have to wait in line to refill your Presto card or buy a ticket at the counter.
What surprised me yesterday around 15:00 at Danforth GO Station, platforms 2 & 3, causing my jaw to drop and my pupils to dilate, was a man who stepped onto the platform, opened a cigarette box, pulled out a stick, lit it, and started smoking—inhaling and exhaling smoke amidst a crowd of people, including small children. I immediately stood up and left the platform. I went online and started browsing the GO Transit website, which raised my eyebrows: there is a smoking policy in effect.n[Exercising right to Smoke on the public place]
This go station is the worst! It smells like urine when you walk through. Shady homeless people are always around or sleeping there. They smoke in the downstairs part of the station and no one seems to stop them. The person working there walking around does nothing .its nasty like the subway.
It's 'okay'. Could use an expansion indoors for passengers waiting as there isn't enough room if it's halfway busy. I walk here, but there's a place for passenger drop offs near the platform if you're driving. Be careful walking to the station as impatient drivers trying to turn onto Main St. may not see you or ignore you which can be dangerous.
