78 Riverside Drive West Dieppe Gardens are named in memory of the many members of the Essex-Kent Scottish Regiment who lost their lives during the World War II landing at Dieppe, France in 1942. The park is heavily planted with brilliantly coloured annuals and perennials. It features many monuments, including monuments to the Canadian Army, Navy and Air Force. For years, the property was used as a docking site by the Detroit-Windsor Ferry Company, and several cottages, retail stores, hotels and other businesses were established. In the late 1950s, these buildings were purchased and demolished by the City so that the site could be developed into a major riverfront park. Highlights: Waterfall and Fish Pond Launch Site for Cruises Peace Beacon Amenities: Benches Concession Monuments Picnic Tables Playground: Yes, absolutely available! Restrooms: Yes, they are there. Dog-friendliness: True that! Picnic area: Kindoff, people come do visit but sometimes they make the place dirty.
Beautiful park right on the waterfront. Great place to walk around with a number of sculptures along the water. Wonderful view of Detroit across the river. They have a number of picnic tables available as well to sit at, making it a nice place to eat after getting take out at one of many options downtown.
Excellent park for biking, walking, and just pondering the greater questions of humanity such as the infamous Dieppe Raid in WWII, memorialized in this park. While the 1942 errors of Dieppe in northern France served to inform a greater victory during D-Day two years later, a present day visit provides an excellent vista to ponder the beautiful skyline of Detroit just across the river.
This was such a peaceful and beautiful place to hang out in the morning. Seeing people exercising and families doing a family workout or walk was great I really enjoyed seeing older people fishing and talking to each other. Some came with their bicycles.
Beautiful views. Lots of stuff to do. Reasonable parking.
Beautiful river front! The gardens are well maintained. The sidewalks and running/ biking paths were also well maintained. The kids were fishing over the railings and all were having a great time. Also seen police pateoling on bikes which made us feel safe. Bathrooms were clean and also well maintained!
Dieppe gardens is nice, it's part of the river walk. The view of Detroit is iconic of the GM buildings and historical landmarks along Windsor. The area is paid parking and often very busy with people working downtown and those traveling. In evenings and weekends it's a busy place for people to meet up at their vehicle also a busy area for Pokemkn Go players.
A very peaceful, colorful, beautiful park right at the riverfront with views! It's great for a relaxing walk, or just sitting on the bench and watching time pass by! This place has nostalgic feels...... must see in Windsor!
Did a little tour on golf cart. Excellent!!!
Beautiful Park with a nice riverwalk... It's a great place for a nice and peaceful walk. There might be some folks who blare loud music in their cars but overall it's not too bad
