The 22nd annual Die-Nasty Soap-A-Thon at the Varscona Theatre from Friday, September 12th at 7:00 PM until Sunday, September 14th at 9:00 PM
Die-Nasty Returns to Flatt Alberta!
Multiple award-winning, Edmonton improv comedy powerhouse, Die-Nasty returns with the 22nd annual Die-Nasty Soap-A-Thon running CONTINUOUSLY at the Varscona Theatre (10329-83 Avenue) from Friday, September 12th at 7:00 P.M. until Sunday, September 14th at 9:00 P.M. – 50 HOURS of fast, funny, Guffman-esque, improv comedy action!
The town of Flatt Alberta, geographical centre of the province and home to the WORLD’S LARGEST COMPOST HEAP, will celebrate its 100th year since incorporation. Come celebrate! There’ll be pancake breakfasts, heap-climbing contests, Howie McCutcheon slap poetry night, culminating in the Flatt Singing Contest and Amateur Night Variety Show!
Die-Nasty’s first season in the beloved Varscona Theatre (1993) was set in a little town called Flatt, Alberta -- a town riddled with rumour, familial discord, political corruption, and a whole lotta soapy love. Castle star and Die-Nasty pal Nathan Fillion played that whole season as love-lorn country poet Howie McCutcheon, Mark Meer joined the cast and a Monday night Varscona tradition was born as the show settled into its theatre home. The entire cast, old and new, is thrilled to return to Flatt for the final Soap-a-thon in the pre-refurbished and remade Varscona Theatre!
This year Die-Nasty welcomes London UK Improvathon colleagues Alan Cox (veteran of Broadway & London’s West End) Dylan Emery (Showstopper) & Rosie Wilkinson (Impropriety), as well as, the Die-Nasty return of our very own Ron Pederson (MADtv).
The weekend also features regular Die-Nasty faves, including Mark Meer, Jeff Haslam, Davina Stewart, Donovan Workun, Matt Alden, Belinda Cornish, Cathleen Rootsaert, Jesse Gervais, Jason Hardwick, Kory Mathewson, Vincent Forcier, Shannon Blanchet. and dozens of remarkable actors from Edmonton and across Alberta and Canada.
Jeff Haslam, Cathleen Rootsaert, Rosie Wilkinson and Mr. Dana Andersen will share the directing chair. Improvising Technical Wizard is Brad Fischer and social media maven Jim Cej will blog the whole weekend on the DN Facebook page. Die-Nasty is produced by Nicole Thibault.
There are a limited number of weekend passes available for $50 with in/out privileges. Single admission tickets for the event are $16 (no in/out privilege).
All tickets go on sale at 6pm Friday, September 12 at the Varscona Theatre box office (10329-83 Avenue) and are available all weekend long! All ticket sales are CASH ONLY at the door. Passes are also available NOW by calling Tix on the Square at 780-420-1757 or online at tixonthesquare.ca
