Story

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit still slow smokes all meats on-site just the same way they did in 1941. The menu features beef brisket, pulled pork, St. Louis style ribs, polish sausage, spicy cheddar sausage, smoked turkey, and marinated chicken, with an extensive array of homestyle sides from jalapeño beans to macaroni and cheese. Buttery rolls are served with every meal along with complimentary ice cream. And just like always, kids eat free on Sunday.

I would say realistically my vote would be 3.5 stars. It is good barbecue for the options I have found in MN. We actually eat here on a fairly regular basis to get our BBQ fix. This doesn't compare to real BBQ in KC, Memphis, Texas, or Carolina but it is pretty decent if you're not in one of those places.

They have ribs that are pretty good. They can be hit or miss at times. Much of the time the ribs are meaty and fairly juicy. Put a little brush of sauce on em and they are a good dinner.

The brisket is also pretty good most of the time. I prefer the chopped brisket to the sliced brisket as you tend to get a little less of the fat and more meat.

I have also tried the pulled pork and sausage. The pulled pork is quite good although I still like the brisket better. The sausage is ok but not one of my favorites.

The sides are also pretty good. My preferences are the jalapeno beans and the mashed potato casserole. We've also tried most of the others and they are pretty good as well.

All in all, Dickey's is a good place to get BBQ when you're not in one of the meccas of BBQ.

Well I figured I would try Dickey's Barbecue out. The food I was able to order was very good... I had the chicken breast and the sliced brisket, both were very good. The BBQ sauces were pretty good to. When I was asked what kind of sides I wanted I asked for the baked potato casserole. A few minutes later one of the workers came and told me they were out and that it would be 45 minutes till a new batch was ready . This is at about 5:45pm on a Friday night btw. I understand that those things happen. My problem is that they didn't try to do anything to make it better. They were very polite, but far from apologetic. The girl that put my food together was to busy talking to a friend and/or off duty employee that was eating while I was waiting. And when the other *Patron* asked for ranch and didn't think she was going to give her enough, she walked back behind the counter and helped herself in her street clothes. All and all the food was good, but the customer service could use a little work..

Excellent food at a reasonable price! A variety of choices of meats and sides to delight even the more discerning diners. Friendly and helpful staff made for a great experience.
