Food - They have a lot of food options suitable for Deccan Hyderabadi as well as to suit the North Indian diaspora. Service - The staff is very friendly and help with the menu for any questions related to ingredients and allergies Atmosphere - We went just around the opening time. It was calm and mostly empty for the time when we went. But it appears to be bustling layer afternoon and evening. Experience - We were a group of 4 friends who ordered the special Mandi Biriyani. For some reason, it was not listed in their menu, appears to be posted in some Facebook page/group. The food was very tasty and apt for all of us. If you are looking for a sizable portion, it was good. The soup was tasty, rice was having kashmiri flavour with cashews and raisins, appetizers were yummy and the dessert were not too sweet and just right.
I went here with great hopes after reading the excellent reviews of the biriyani. I tried the Vijayawada biriyani, as that was the only South Indian biriyani option available on the day. While the chicken in the biriyani was full of flavour, the rice seemed too bland for a biriyani. It felt like they had been mixed together just before serving. So my rating for the biriyani is average and my hunt for a better one continues.
The food tastes really good here. However, it is not a restaurant to dine in. And this is my second visit. We, a group of 4 people dined here on Sunday 11th December for dinner. This is Sunday, the restaurant may not be busy with dine in customers however, they were quite busy with Pick Up orders. There was just one another group of about 8 people at another table dining at the same time. Unfortunately, there was only one person attending to the tables, phone calls, Skip and Door Dash pings... and we learned at the end that he was also at the Tandoor making Breads. There were 2 chefs in the kitchen. Details of why our experience was bad: 1. Our table with some Spoons or Forks missing. We could not call the waiter as he was busy, and so we stole some from the adjacent empty table. 2. Both Chicken Dum Biryani and Mutton Dum Biryani are not available. Mysore Masala Dosa, Veg Utthapam not available. And these were part of the small special menu and all 4 were what we wanted to order. 3. Only cold Coke Zero and Diet Coke are available. Regular Coke was not available as they were not placed in the cooler. And management forgot that we South Indians love regular cola with Biryani. 4. As there was only 1 person waiting at the tables, there was no one to answer the phones. In our 2 hours there, not one phone call was answered and the phone rang quite a lot. It is annoying to sit with the phone ringing and no one makes an effort to answer it. 5. The dish, Chicken 65 tasted very good... however, it does not taste anything like Chicken 65. Whatever the recipe is, it works, but please change the name to 'Chicken Fry' or something else. 6. We ordered 2 Biryanis and both of them were served without a serving spoon. 7. The waiter was so busy that he forgot to give us dinner plates. We ended up eating Biryanis in Quarter Plates. This made us feel completely neglected. I also noticed the other group of people were also eating in Quarter plates. 8. As Indians, we love slices of Onion on the side with our Biryani. We requested the same, and we may have been given a quarter of an onion sliced for the entire table. Picture uploaded. Out of our time there, I really feel bad for the one person who was attending the tables and everything in the front. I hope he is being paid well for all the troubles. Please do not get me wrong, the food is really good. Except that, your desire for excellent food without the right number of people waiting during busy hours has left customers neglected. I will for sure visit the restaurant one more time on a Sunday in future. I am hoping to see more than one person waiting at the tables and management being present to take care of the phones, orders and customers. And I will change/delete this review if it happens. 03rd Feb - I visited again today. Absolutely no change whatsoever. 1 person running around to wait on people and serve. Again the waiter expected us to eat in Quarter plates. I do not understand the logic of having 1 person to manage all customers. I understand profit is important... but it cannot be at the cost of poor service. All the tables were waiting for some attention. You can simply solve this issue by employing extra help for the weekends and it would not cost a lot. I reiterate, this restaurant is not suitable for dining. Atmosphere is the restaurant - you see tables with used plates. I can understand this is because there is only 1 person waiting and it is difficult to expect him clean the tables as well. We ordered Chicken Dum Biryani which was ok. It lacked flavor today. Also ordered Guntur Gobi 65 and it was very good. Your food is great... all you need is to think of better service at the restaurant. Learn about hospitality and this will help your restaurant to become the best. If your focus is on delivery and pickup, then easy solution is to move to a Commercial kitchen. There is no point having customers visit just to make them have a bad experience.
Tried this new south Indian place in town, opened in ex-thai location on Cambie. The food was awesome. They seems to be specialized in Hyderabad Biryani. Indeed they have many varieties of Biryani. The chicken curry is very flavourful and tasty. Felt authentic south Indian curry. Also tried Vijayawada Biryani comes with fried boneless chicken… it has good dhum texture and taste. They used authentic spices. Chicken curry with their Garlic naan was a good combo, though i need Naan to have more cooked. They also have lunch combos, but I have chosen biryani when they said it is their special. Note: if you are a medium spice eater, then ask for low spicy. Their kitchen spicy scale is at higher levels.
Must Try Vegetarian: Paneer Biryani Guntur special Price: Reasonable Quantity & Quality: Good Parking: Paid Street parking/Check at the restaurant they have limited parking behind the restaurant Public Transportation: Nearby Bus Stops Crowd: Average Seating: 30 People Service: Quick & Hot Staff: friendly ---------------------------------- Highlights: Family pack biryani is the best option sufficient for 3 people. Parking: Limited free parking 3 spots - behind the restaurant. Free street parking next to the rain and shine ice cream 400m away
I’ve been here about 10 times in the past couple months. The paneer special dum biryani is AUTHENTIC!! and veg. Manchuria are consistently good. The chef is friendly and his food never let me down. Service is the worst part as it looks like they don’t want to hire more than one waiter.
Underrated Hyderabadi briyani in the town. Much better in terms of taste and service compared to other “Hyderabadi briyani” restaurants. Must try chicken 555 briyani
Great service. Good food. More varieties I was on a vacation with my family to Vancouver and badly needed a good food serving restaurant because I already tried few of them but didn’t meet my expectations. One day we casually walked into Deccan Chili’s and to our shock it turned out to be a great restaurant in terms of food and service. Tried Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani and Pachi Mirchi Chicken Biryani. Awesome taste!!! The owner of the restaurant is always welcoming and made sure we don’t wait too long for food to be served. I’ll again visit this restaurant.
Good place for Appetizers and biryani is Ocassionally good and bad. Overall decent experience but long delay for getting your order. If you are covered almost all India restaurants in Vancouver then give it a try here.
We generally order vijayawada biryani from here for take out and get 10% off, we ordered yesterday and asked for 10% off which is very well mentioned on outdoor menu stand, waiter denied saying it is not available this week, when we told him it’s mentioned then he said its not on south indian dishes. Wasn’t in mood to argue about this but surely staff was having fun while saying anything he wants. Staff lied about take out 10% off not available. Not sure if restaurant encourages staff to lie to customers! Biryani was also okayish, avoid if you want to save your hard earned money.
