Days Inn charged my card without my permission after agreeing to NOT charge my card. Tried contact manager. Cancelled reservation & demanded refund. On Oct 4, I called Days Inn Whitehall to make a reservation. I spoke with Tina. She told me I could not pay for my room over the phone. I told her in that case I would bring cash. She assured me my card would not be charged. I left the conversation with the understanding that I was just HOLDING a room NOT PAYING FOR ONE. I could still cancel my reservation until 4pm the day of reservation, Oct 6. The morning of my trip I checked my bank and found they had full charged me for the two day stay on Oct 5, without my permission AFTER our lengthy conversation about NOT charging my card!! I was furious and contacted the hotel right away. A very rude desk clerk kept stonewalling me telling the manager is not in, don't know when they will be in, has no set office hours. When I arrived at the hotel at 1pm to speak with manager I got the same story. I told her under no uncertain terms was I staying at that hotel until I spoke with manager bout the abuse of my card and demanded a refund. She told me she was only authorized to refund my money AFTER I paid her the cash. I told her I'm cancelling my reservation. I told her first thing when I found the indiscretion with my card, and stood firm at the counter, "I'm NOT staying in a hotel where there is no manager to address my needs." She reluctantly refunded my money electronically and gave me a receipt. That's ALL I got. My money has still not been refunded in the 3-5 days time promised. I did not stay in the hotel and I cancelled long before check in time. These people are a bunch of pathetic crooks and I'll never make a reservation at any of their hotels again!

Decent hotel for the price. Great restaurant in hotel and pool was clean and nice. Friendly staff. (Woman at front counter was exceptionally great). Great breakfast in morning. Sheets and towels were clean but housekeeping could be a bit better. 1000 times better than the Rodeway Inn down the street that we stayed at the night before. (We didn't even bring our suitcases in that one. Slept in our clothes on questionable sheets.)

Let me start by saying the normal rate for a 2 queen-bed room is $300 per night on the weekend, this is highway robbery. This hotel is in close proximity to Michigan's Adventure amusement park and hotels are in high demand as most visitors to the park travel several hours to get there like I did (3 hours). This hotel is long overdue for a remodel and makeover and at $300 per night they should have been able to do this a long time ago. Aside from my room just being old all the way from the in-wall A/C unit to the drab paint on the walls to the old furniture, the room was not clean at all, filthy! I checked in late (after 10 pm on a Saturday) due to being at the amusement park all day until closing. When I got to my room which was in the lower level I was totally put off by how the room looked and then I went into the bathroom. I checked out the tub and I was totally disgusted by all the dirt, soap scum, mold and hair that I saw when I looked in there. So much so that I would not allow my family to shower even after being outside at an amusement park for over 10 hours. Due to my late check-in there was no one in housekeeping available to address the bathroom situation, so I waited until the next morning to seek out some help with cleaning the bathroom, well I must have gone too early, I went to the front desk after 8 am, to ask if my bathroom could be cleaned so that my family and I could shower. Well guess what, no one from housekeeping is there that early. So I asked the attendant at the front desk, who was extremely pleasant but not apologetic, if I could get something to use to clean my bathroom with by myself, yes I had to clean the bathroom by MYSELF! She handed me a couple of face cloths and a spray bottle of pink solution, this stuff stood no chance against the soap scum and grime and mold and dirt and grit that the bath tub in my room held but I gave it a try anyway and it was a complete failure. Now let's get back to the cost of the room, like I said a weekend night is $300 and by the filled parking lot it appears that this is normal in this area. When I see $300 per night I'm think 4-stars at least, right! This place not even close, to me the Days Inn, Whitehall, MI would not even have a place on a hotel rating scale. I am a Wyndham Rewards member and I had reward points available to use to get the room at a discounted rate, so I only came out of $49.95 for my hotel stay, but I feel that I grossly overpaid.

Nice place to stay. Quite, with its own little bar and restaurant. Walmart right next door for shopping if needed. Going to Michigan Adventure? Good place to stay. Not far from Park so you don't have to put up with noise or traffic. Will stay there again when in the area.

Easy access. Close to the highway. Fairly clean. I was attending a social event, the conference room and stairwell were freezing.
