I ordered a large pick 2 rice combo. For $17, the portion was smaller than expected. The cuts of the BBQ pork were poorly done - there were pieces that were super thin and some super thick. The roasted pork was a bit over cooked. Overall the dish was pretty underwhelming. I would recommend just going for their wonton noodles instead of their bbq selections.
I dropped by Danny's wonton on August 7 on way way to Vancouver. I ordered a wonton noddle soup and bbq pork belly . I could not fisnished both. The wonton is not fresh and in a bordeline rotten stage. It actually has a funny taste. The bbq pork belly is too fat, tasteless and thin. I cannot recommend both. They are not authentic Hong Kong style. Luckily, there are more good wonton shops in Richmond.
My photo shows what $73.00 buys you from Danny's. Look, I'll be straight up by stating that the service is super friendly, and the location clean and welcoming. As for the food, well, it's tasty! Sadly, none of this can save Danny's from a mere two star rating, because there is absolutely no excuse for charging that much for what you're getting when you take your business there. $73.00 for three entrees and a soup. My mother insisted, despite the prices, but upon seeing the tiny portion of meat for such a huge price tag, I think I've convinced her to try a different place. I doubt we will be back. Such a shame for a place that used to serve up a lot more for a lot less.
What happened to this place? Just transferred back to the area for work after leaving at the start of Covid and used to come here as it's close to work and the food was good, not great, but the convenience and prices then made it passable. Been back twice now and wow!! just plain bad, are there new owners? Today was Chicken mix veg over rice and just zero taste, luckily I added black bean sauce but they used so little that it was only 5 or 6 small black beans that at least had a bit of flavour. Speaking of 5 or 6...that was the amount of small cut of chicken that had the texture of being dropped in too hot water, rubbery and tough, definitely not stir fried, the vegetables also boiled taste and texture so the chef here now definitely has no wok skills as I'm sure the only thing the wok is used for here is as a mixing bowl for the boiled items to be tossed with maybe half a spoon of oyster sauce along with a lot of water and cornstarch to make a bland lite brown "sauce" which then is out on top of mushy low quality rice... First time back was for BBQ pork on rice which had the look and taste of yesterday's pork or even 2 days ago it was so grey, pale and dry... not moist sticky and reddish like good quality BBQ. Speaking of which I need to get back to HK BBQ master for the real deal... hopefully they haven't let their business go like Danny's has!! Won't be back...
Have been coming here since I was a baby and it has always been one of my favourite restaurants. Unfortunately, it is no longer the same and the food has become an expensive disappointment. Quality has dropped off significantly and we will no longer be coming back. SO sad.
I used to love this place for the BBQ pork and duck and gai lan with oyster sauce on rice. The pork is now gray and too salty-and twice “no duck as It it sold out a few minutes ago “. The pork used to hang in the window. The gai lan is good but the oyster sauce is now way too salty. If you like egg foo yung it was good. Prices are ridiculous. Will not return. Change of ownership???
Online prices haven't been updated for awhile I paid almost twice what I thought I was. 80$ for 2 chow mein, roast pork and spare rib. Could not belive how little roast pork I got for 16 dollars. I remembered this place being so much better its to bad especially with sooooo many better options in Richmond definitely not going back.
I tried their shredded chicken fried rice for $13.95. I requested it to be extra spicy. We were charged extra for that. The rice portion is enough for 1 person. The rice was cooked well not too sticky or not too al dente. They had mixed in green peas and eggs. And the chicken tasted good too. Fyi- So when you ask them to make it spicy they don't add anything to the rice they charge you for a sauce as shown in the picture. Will definitely visit here to try more food.
The beef brisket and beef tendon hot pot was delicious, and not over-flavored with chinese five spice. The Shanghai noodles were the right amount of chewy and very flavorful. I am very sensitive to freezer burned food and tasted that with the chicken used in the sweet and sour chicken balls. The chicken balls had nice chucks of pineapple and onions in the sauce. We also ordered the beef and mixed vegetables, the veggies were nice and crispy but not as flavorful as the rest of the dishes. These dishes and a side of steamed rice came to $63 before tip. The service was very good, questions answered and tea and water refilled regularly.
Well, good surprise. I had no expectation coming here and i ended up loving it. We were at the Pumpkin Patch near by and wanted a quick meal, here we go! The Wun tun are good! Average portion but very reasonable price see pic Good customer service, it’s baby friendly! They brought us baby plate and ustensiles. Highchair available. It’s very clean too. Small places tend to have so-so washroom, but this one was clean and smell good. Really.. would go back if I was closer :
