Worst Customer Service Experience - AVOID if you want to receive your furniture! Waited 7 months for a custom buffet that was supposed to take 12 weeks at the most.We were told each month that our buffet didn't make it on the delivery truck because there was so much furniture. Business must have been great so why not send out more than one truck?! Once the buffet finally arrived 7 months after we ordered it, the stain was not dark enough and brass hinges were added on the exterior when the diagram we provided specifically did not include brass hinges. Don arranged for our buffet to be rebuilt and stained again darker as we requested, but after more than 4 months of waiting no one at Dancing Don's had any info on the status of our buffet.We called countless times for updates and promises were made to return our calls and they never were returned. It was the same excuse, they could not get a hold of the builders and they could not get a hold of Don. Unbelievable!!! We paid a $1000 deposit, which Dancing Don's had for 10 months. Finally, we got fed up with the wait and lousy customer service and asked for a refund on our deposit. No interest was given on the $1000 even though they had our money for 10 months and we had to deal with their lousy and at times very rude customer service. Checked the BBB and there have been other similar complaints. If you actually want to receive your furniture and have a pleasant experience AVOID Dancing Don's!!!
We wasted 8 months waiting for ordered table that probably would never be made. The worst buying experience ever. In March of 2014 we signed an agreement to custom build an oak table with Dancing Don’s Furniture store at the Merivale Road location found thru TV commercial. We paid a deposit, exactly half of the total price. The contract stated that it would take 8 to 10 weeks for delivery of the product. Beginning of November and the table still wasn't made. After many trips to the store, empty promises, lack of returned phone calls and as we found out later many lies, we finally decided to cancel our order. It was a very stressful experience dealing with such irresponsible, unprofessional and always seems to be confused staff. From the moment when we expressed our serious concern and requested concrete information about status of our order, the staff treated us with no respect, very rude and Don himself was even shouting at us. We requested to have our deposit back, especially that Don told us that our table cannot be made any more the way it was originally agreed in the contract, means it would be made with different kind of wood and different grain layout than in the contract and nobody knows when. We finally received our deposit back, but before that Don desperately tried to convince us so we give him another chance. Today we had signed another contract with New Oak Tree in Carleton Place. This time we were more careful and sceptical and we checked references for New Oak Tree wherever we could before we decided to involve ourselves in business with them. We found out that many other clients turned to New Oak Tree after breaking their contract with Dancing Don’s. We came across many bad reviews describing similar to ours experiences with Dancing Don’s Furniture store. Read some of the complaints on Dancing Don's business on the BBB web site. I am posting this review here and on other business review sites in hopes that it will help others to make their decision. Our advice is: do not waste your time and patience with this business.
We ordered a Jewellery chest for my wife in April last year for about $1200. In October, they told us that the supplier had gone bankrupt and they were getting it made elsewhere, but we had to pay an extra $1200, we negotiated that down to $800. Whist we were there, not realising anything was amiss, we ordered two side tables for $750. We are now out of pocket to the tune of $2700. Since then there have been endless excuses and changes of personnel, the people in the store claim they don't know Don's mobile phone number and don't have any authority to deal with his business in his absence except take more orders. Don is unfortunately becoming more and more slippery and evasive, and the delivery is always somehow delayed, truck broke down, will be here in two weeks which never comes etc etc. Another furniture dealer that is in the same Amish field, said that the Amish will no longer supply him as he is insolvent. He is today still taking furniture orders at the Home and Garden show it Ottawa whilst he is unable to fulfil the orders he already has. We know he is going to be at the show today and tomorrow. We are going to the show to see him directly, and If we do not get a refund today we shall call the police and report him for Fraudulently trading. The show is giving us it's full backing, as they don't want to be associated with Fraud or criminal activity. A very sad end to what was a Furniture legend in Ottawa. All I can say is DO NOT let them have your money, you will almost certainly never see it again.
DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!!!! my fiancé and I found a beautiful baby crib at dancing dons ...we made the TERRIBLE mistake of putting money down before we actually recieved the product. when we called to pick up the crib they "didn't know where it was". feeling uneasy I went online and read a few reviews and decided I did not want to do business with this company anymore . I called in explained the situation and asked for my refund since they still could not seem to find the product ....after alot of back and forth , unreturned phone calls we placed a post on bbb ...that finally got us a response from them ...if we took down the post they would return our money . so we did ... and here we are still no refund. my fiancé was even told he had to drive out to Naven and meet Don to get the money back ....so he did ... still no money , but he did attempt to sell him the crib again !!!!!!!!!!!!!! he now is telling us we'll get the money in "40 days" , I think it's quite obvious we are being dicked around ... shop at your own risk.
