Not great, but not bad either. If you have a delicate palette that can taste the smallest amount of salt, then this meal may be for you. I used to like their deep fried spicy tofu, but now seems they're too lazy to mix up the tofu with chili and garlic which seemed a bit on the raw side so only tasted deep fried tofu with a smidgen of salt. Hong Kong Style Congee seems not your usual still from other places. No squid, pork skin or minced beef in it. Instead, there's fish tofu? Not even much toppings either. My photo is after I mixed in the green onion, peanut garnish and one bowl dishes out. The wonton noodle not good. Noodle overcooked and soup not good. Can say wontons taste not too bad. Service was neither good nor bad, just par for what this place as unchanged from what I remember from several years ago. Basically, expect none after they take your order and you won't be disappointed about service only, food taste is another matter. Was early enough to get parking right out front, but know there's often residential parking on sides streets if no spots in parking lot. Maybe something on Granville, but I don't do meters and free spots often taken by other food and drink establishments. Overall, they're lucky to be the only congee noodle spot in Marpole, or else maybe they'd lose more business. Myself, would rather drive a little further Main Street for something that tastes better.
Do not recommend. Food was just like those Chinese fast food you'd get at a food court, probably worse because you'd pay more for less here. Cold and dry rice. Small portions. Soggy. No idea how it survives. One and only positive is that parking is usually available because few people visit this place.
The chicken noodle lo mien mixed noodles is ok. The noodle itself taste too much like alkaline water. The chicken was tender though. The salt and pepper tofu was ok and the honey pork was ok as well. The wonton and gow zi was delicious and big. The service was patchy.
Been coming here for years. Quick, no fuss dining. Free hot tea. Tonight I decided to have Cod Fillet with baby bochoy. Simple, fresh and fast. With a bowl of steam rice. They also serve Congee, barbecue, noodles.
During rush hour this place is nice because there is parking... and street parking on Granville is prohibited. Service was friendly enough and food came out quickly! We had noodles with beef brisket, salty spicy squid, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce... enough for two. Food was okay... May come back during rush hour and when time is tight. Otherwise there are lots of other options in this area.
I went there May 17 for the first time. The food was just ok and the chicken was far from being fresh. The service was terrible. There were no smiles, no thank you's, and the food was just shoved onto our table. The staff often talked to each other instead of attending to the customers. All conversations from the diners had to cease as the servers talked so loud. One server, when not busy, played loud videos on her cell phone for everyone to hear. This place is far from being professional and I will not return.
I'm visiting vancouver for a week, attracted by it's name and decided to give it a try. Order noodle soup and sweet and sour pork with rice and the typical Chinese iced lemon tea. There flavor of the food is pretty good, portion is more than I expected and almost couldn't finish the whole dish of rice. Additionally, the lemon tea is really good compared to other places i visited. Overall I like this place enough to recommend to everyone else, make sure to give it a try!
The only congee noodle restaurant in the neighbourhood. Can't say the food is delicious but if speed of service and average food is what you're looking for, then this is the place to go. Usually not packed so it's easy to drop in and out within 30 mins. Good lunch spot if you're not picky.
Renovated since my last visit quite some time ago so place looks brighter and more trendy. Noodle always reliable. Good for a quick bite. Parking lot rather small but always open slots on side streets
This is a local hangout place for me. Whenever I have cravings for wonton noodles or congee, this is my go to place on the west side. The food is hot and comes fast. Compare to other noodle house, this one is way cleaner. The price is reasonable, easy to find parking and don't need to deal with Richmond.
