Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Bismarck, ND

As someone who travels quite a bit for work I will say I'm not thrilled with this hotel. When you see the name Carlson this means renovation and clean rooms but not here. Walked into first room had hair on all three pillows and in the bed so I went downstairs and said I'm going to dinner could someone take care of this? The answer was yes no problem or so I thought. After dinner I came back to find the front desk agent saying hello and trying to hand me new sheets and pillow cases? She said there is only two of them and couldn't leave the desk which I laughed and she said she was serious. I said this is a new room I just came into town and you want me to change your sheets? No please find me a new room so she handed me another set of keys so I went up and shocking only one pillow had hair, the carpets are all worn and the towels are Staind. When I asked when the manager would be in I was told sometime tomorrow. I suggest with the old rooms and bad customer service I would avoid this hotel. I know my company will be notified to put this hotel on a don't use again hotel.

I absolutely love staying here!! The room we are staying in is perfect!!. The bed is insanely comfortable... So much so, that when i lay down, a nap is inevitable. The staff had been beyond kind and hospitable. They are a huge reason why this place is so amazing. Then there's the pool area!!!! A waterside, a regular pool, a kiddie pool and a hot tub... seriously this place is amazing. If you've read this review and are looking for a place to stay, stop looking and book your reservation here. You won't regret it. I will be sad when we have to leave but I will look forward to coming back!!!

The place was pretty nice. We visited a few friends staying there. We mostly used the pool, which was pretty nice, but it would have been nice to close the windows because it made it a bit cold.

I would rate it higher but the pool was closed which they did not tell us until we checked in. And then they Che ked us into the wrong room. Also the breakfast tasted weird. I don't know how to explain it just weird

A bit of a nightmare. Inexpensive. Basic rooms. The carpet in our room looked​ like maybe it was maybe never cleaned, bits of food embedded in it. Lots of stains on furniture too. Pretty worn down place overall. Wi-Fi is functional only for a few minutes at a time. Our room had a sitting room with a couch that pulled out into a bed separated from a larger bedroom. However only the larger bedroom had heat or AC. It kid of defeats the purpose of two rooms if you have to keep the door open between those rooms to keep both rooms comfortable. There was a vent near the ceiling in the sitting area, but it didn't do anything, no air movement. The heat and AC unit was right next to the large bed, loud, and due to its location if you turned the AC on it blew right on the bed while the other room got nothing. The vents on our unit were missing.... broken off I believe. We rented a pack and play for a baby from the hotel. The pack and play was full of stale Cheerios when we opened it. (I guess fresh wouldn't have been much better). The fire alarm went off 7 times over the course of two nights, six of those after 9 pm. Staff did not seem to know what to do about the fire alarm. They said it couldn't be fixed for a few days. On top getting no sleep (the kids terrified by being repeatedly woken up) I was concerned about safety too. Ultimately they reduced the rate in compensation for the fire alarms. On the weekend they struggled to keep enough food available for everyone for breakfast, at most half of the hot food was available at any one time. The pool is nice with a big slide and a pool area for younger kids.
