Historically significant Columbia river preservation of native petroglyphs preserved for future generations and panoramic riverfront.

The park and day use area is great, 5 stars! The lake is really fun to swim in. The reason why I only rated this 2 stars is because if you are planning to spend the night here, DON'T! The rentable tents and teepee are not INCLOSED. When we got there, there were at least 10 wasps inside and they had spray wasp spray. There are ants crawling all over the inside of the tents and a bat even flew inside. We slept in the car. There is bring-your-own tent camping but the sites are right next to each other without any privacy. I would stay somewhere else near by and then come here during the day and swim in the lake. They also have paddle boards peddle boats you can rent. Bring inflatable tubes, that's a workout but fun.

Make sure you're here in late April to see the peaking of the wildflowers. There's a couple hillsides where you can Tak a trail straight through thousands of blossomed lupin, balsam root and several others for colorful flowers that I have not identified. The trails have been worked on extensively, and the entire loop is perfect for a half-day walk. If you are looking for the flowers, don't skip military road. That's the best spot on the hill.

If I'm not mistaken, there are suppose to be petroglyphs here. They The exhibit was closed due to vandalism. :( The US government has not treated the Native Americans well in the region. Just research "The Kenniwick Man" as an example.
