I tried the turkey melt and it was delicious. Totally recommend. My only critique would be to for the store to bake more croissants. Those are also heavenly, but every time I come in they are sold out. I would imagine that 1 missed sale is worth 5+ unsold croissants, and after I asked for one, someone else came into the store and was also turned away

Amazing bagels! The best! All pastries and donuts are delicious.

A very nice cafe with yummy treats! Delicious tarts and brownies. It's cash only, which I did not know, but they insisted on taking my treats home and paying it for it the next time I came by. I would really recommend this cafe!

Absolutely delicious bagels, croissants, date squares, brownies, butter tarts, donuts, sandwiches, and coffee. If you have exact change, it's much faster to grab a coffee here than to go through the drive thru at a fast food restaurant - and the coffee's much tastier and fair trade to boot

Not for any other reason other than the man that works there is RUDE. I've gone in twice and he has been rude both times. I came today at 245 and he was upset by my asking for butter for a bread I had to put in a toaster and butter with hard butter. He was telling people at 255 he was done. Ok. Maybe he has other responsibilities but no need to be rude. Lost me as a customer

I got butter tarts and croissants, sooo soooo yummy and fresh. I love the atmosphere and the staff are so nice and friendly! Prices are reasonable. Would recommend 100%. Will come back soon again.

Regardless of their fiscal success or not, this business fails horribly in the following areas - customer service — 0/10 it doesn’t exist - menu and ordering structure — 0/10 Succeeds in the following - customer frustration - 10/10 I’m shocked this type of company is still running with how it is, walked in had a look around and walked out when staff told me to close the door when it was held open for literally 3.5-4.5seconds. Do not support bad businesses and this in certainly one of them. The positive note I’ll put is when this business eventually fails and it will fail you can open up a bakery and coffee shop at their location but do it correctly.

You may not come to Kitchener and not give this place a try. City Café is uniquely KW's best spot for fresh baked goods. Served co-op style in a cash only honour system, there is no more welcoming place to grab a quick bite and and coffee. Try the pizza too.

Best bread ever. Try the raisin bread. Tuna melts and pizza are favs.. 1 year later 5 if us went just before lunch. I raved about their food to the 2 who had never been. The new person went to the counter as others found seating. It was 10 to 12 and none of us realized that orders weren't taken till 12. The male worker gestured to the clock on the wall and rudely said not till 12. We shook it off as someone hurried to get the place open. He was frantically running around doing choirs. More staff needed maybe. Another staff took our orders. They both brought our food to our table. The discussion as to who got what? He plunked his 2 or 3 serving on the table and rudely said you figure it out. The other server asked who got what. So now he was rude twice. As we were leaving and got rid of our garbage , one of our group asked him nicely where our baskets went. He gestured and said over there where their is a sign stated where they go. Needless to say their impression of City Cafe was tainted and they will likely not go again. I do have to say the food was great as usual. Everyone can be short but 3 times in 1 visit? He should not be working in an establishment that serves the public. March 12, 2023
