Staff are super friendly. It's not a big big theatre but good for a movie on a weekend. A bit old but good news it's quiet...so you get to enjoy the movie on a IG home theatre screen Concessions are okay. You can even bring in your coffee as they don't serve coffee but beverages, popcorn, sweets. Screens are digital and sound quality crisp. If you're downtown, this is pretty much the only theatre around.
The cinema is old, with simple chairs and ours specifically were very dirty and stained. The room is small, sound and screen are good. Nice staff. Good popcorn, coffee, cheap parking. I would only go back there if I was downtown. Otherwise I would choose a more modern cinema
Theaters holding up OK in terms of looks and slightly dated, but this mall has been on hold for years and needs TLC from the owners. Plans at one time to tear down the complex and rebuild. Not many folks going to the movies these days...part of that has to be the sad choice of flicks available for viewing. Friendly staff, wash rooms clean. Usual array of snacks & soft drinks.
Theatre 3 has shown its age for sure. Seats aren't very comfortable, the screen is too high. Especially for a 3:15hr showing of Avatar 2. Staff are friendly, parking isn't free. Screens aren't great for high fidelity movies. Sound system isn't that great, the rear channel seems to have retired. Bathroom signage is a curious confusion. After seeing a film in theatre 3, I found myself early on wishing I was either at home with my 13yo lcd tv and brand new 5.1 sound system, or across the street from my house in the recliners at the landmark theatre. It's not bad, just past its prime. I remember when it opened and it was the hot spot in town. Not so much any more. Feels like a relic from my childhood that refuses to either grow up and monderize, or own it's eccentricities like other classic Calgary theatres such as the palace or the plaza. Feels like the forgotten child in a family of stars and innovators. It should be celebrated for its place in our history, upgraded, or shuttered. Leaving it to rot like this is cruel to the community, the staff, the industry, and movie goers.
Great, retro theatre with a huge screen and fabulous location. However, one problem is that they leave the bright lights on during the trailers. Otherwise this is a perfect place to catch a flick!
I have been to this theatre a few times due to its proximity. Every time I hope that it has done some renovations. The chairs are old and uncomfortable. Wish they would do something about this to attract more people to this theatre. With the growing downtown population it's disappointing that they have not invested more into this theatre. Currently going to theatres that are more updated.
Was there for a corporate event and movie. Good venue for the corp event. Theatre styling reminded me of Stranger Things--it's dated but passable. Just don't expect state of the art recliners.
We made a mistake of going there to see Avatar in 3D. The video quality was very disappointing. Out of focus and washed out too light. Also, it was difficult to sit in old hard chairs for over 3 hours. The floor was sticky under our feet. Will never go to this theatre again.
Do NOT recommend if you have BACK issues. The seats are not comfortable, especially if the movie is super long. I just kept hoping for the movie to be over. 2 stars because the staff is friendly.
Very old seating in a building that will be torn down within 3 years to be replaced by high-rises but the service was friendly and the screens are good so if you're downtown it's a win, but don't make a special trip to it.
