Chill Ice House

About

CHILL Ice House is the worlds largest & Canadas' first permanent ice lounge with warm lounge. Located downtown Toronto, CHILL is open to guest of all ages!

Story

CHILL Ice House is a cool, family attraction by day and a hip ice lounge at night. Walk into CHILL and the complete environment is constructed of ice including the walls, bar, furniture and the glass you drink from! The stunning ice sculptures will feature a variety of themes so the interior is constantly changing. It is a unique experience for visitors of all ages! Chill is also the only permanent ice lounge in the world to also feature a warm lounge, which we call Gatsby's located just beyond the refreshing ice lounge.

The idea for the CHILL Ice House in Toronto originated with Gresham Bayley who spent his free time during university years working with Iceculture, one of the world’s leading ice sculpture companies. Gresham traveled the world creating permanent ice lounges – in Dubai, Greece, India and all over the US.

He has also been involved with other large ice projects, such as the Disney fairy-tale castle in Times Square, New York City, the World Ski Championships and a global warming exhibition in Oslo, Norway at the time Al Gore received his Nobel Prize.

‘We designed CHILL to incorporate the most intriguing ideas from some of the ice lounges we have created. And I wanted a venue that would appeal to families as much as the bar crowd. I think I have been able to address both groups, effectively’ says Gresham.
‘When it came to designing the interior of the lounge I turned to my cousin, Heidi Bayley who is president of Iceculture and is responsible for creating many of the ice lounges I helped install’, he added. Heidi is very experienced in ice décor and understands the value of effective LED lighting – and this will be very obvious when visitors enter the lounge.

‘While ice lounges are understandably extremely popular in hot climates, having a venue in Toronto has great benefits’, Gresham explains. ’After all, Canadians do know a thing or two about ice and snow, so this becomes a truly Canadian experience for people around the globe. We want locals and visitors to come and see what we can do’.

Really unique experience. There are two rooms; a hot and cold room. Both are rather small. The cold room is really cool, no pun intended. From the ice sculptures to the shots made of ice this is a place to see.
Was here for NYE. Innovative concept and interesting decors. Some bar games options like foosball and table curling? to keep you entertained. The backroom is well decorated and felt quite cosy. Was packed on New Year’s Eve.
My favourite place to visit when in Toronto! Always a fun time, the staff is super friendly and I loved the fondue!
Great bar tucked away down am alley. Has a traditional bar and then the ice part which is like a sea container adorned with glass walls, furniture and entertainment.
I've been here when it's been crazy and when it's been quiet. Both were good. On the latest Friday night visit there were dueling pianists that were quite good on the Chill side of the place.
Awesome local bar! Has the real feel of a speakeasy with a hidden entrance off the south side of the building. It's definitely a hidden gem in the king west area.
The bartender ryan is great. Music was awesome. Just too crowded for me
Really cool bar, I loved how everything was made of ice from the air hockey table to seats etc. Went on a Sunday and it was not busy. Got treated good by the staff, just a lot smaller than I thought it would be.
