You won't get a better Bao than this one in Montreal. Way better than Satay Bros. in quality, quantity, variety and taste. Went for a quick takeout on St Patrick's Day. Though I'm not a big lover of fried chicken but the garlic chicken didn't disappoint. The garlic wasn't overpowered and bun was so fresh. For vegetarians, Chef Lee has great choices as well. Nice decor, quick service and friendly staff
Super fresh and tasty food. I think this might be the best pork wonton I’ve had so far! The pork bun was super fresh and delicious. I wasn’t in love with the shrimp and cheese balls but they weren’t bad. And to top it all off I had this super refreshing yuzu ice tea. It wasn’t on the menu but the staff recommended it. The restaurant had a great ambiance and the staff were nice and friendly. A great lunch experience!
Had early dinner here, so there was no line. The restaurant is relatively small, so there may be a lineup during peak times. Service was quick and friendly. The fried dumplings are a must here. Very juicy and perfectly seasoned. The bao was also very good. I liked the fried onions in them, which creates a nice contrast with the melt-in-your-mouth pork. As for the noodles, simple and good with a sweet soya sauce. Overall great meal. Will definitely go back!
We decided to give a try after many recommendations. I liked the food but it wasn’t amazing. The buns were somewhat lacklustre, which was disappointing being a signature dish. I’ve had much much better buns at other places in the past. Especially the pork belly bun, the meat was just too fatty we couldn’t finish it. The fried chicken was decent, as were the pan fried buns. Would recommend for a quick bite, or if hungry and stopping by, but do not expect a gastronomical treat
Tasty food, however, this isn't authentic Chinese but sort of a fast food takeoff. We enjoyed it very much! Keep in mind the portions are small and we had to order 2.5 dishes each which made the meal expensive. Service was good.
Really good fried bao! They're warm and crispy, yet still very juicy inside! All of the bao dough are super soft. Went for a late night snack, staff is super friendly and fast service. 10/10 rec
I come for the sheng jian bao pan-fried porked filled buns. They are always piping hot, delicious and each filled with flavorful broth inside. It definitely satisfies my cravings and I honestly haven't found anywhere that makes them better in the Montreal area.
An amazing spot for a light and tasty meal! Chef Lee is a cute corner spot on St Catherine with the best buns in townyes, you read that right.I ordered the Bun Boeuf Teriyaki and the Crispy Fried Chicken bun and they were soo soo tasty! The flavours weren't overpeowering but were so good. The service was A1,the staff was friendly and were helpful when needed. I loved the interior design of the restaurant,it had a peaceful and homey feeling to it and to add to that, the music was very soothing and made our time there nice and calm. My only issue is that the dishes there are very very light,so you would have to order almost 5 - 6 dishes if you want to be full. Other than that,I would recommend investing! Vegetarian options: there are a few vegetarian options, but the experience for a vegetarian person would not be as fulfilling. Kid-friendliness: the meals are generally kid-friendly and they have cool designs for some of their dishes that kids would find cool. Parking: This place is located in downtown Montreal so parking is very limited Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, besides the door to enter the place,a person on a wheelchair would find it easy to enter and move around. Dietary restrictions: There are some dishes for people with dietary restrictions.
This place is ammmmaaazzing! For starters it is really affordable, so great for tourists with a tight budget or looking to grab a quick bite. The food is also just incredible, definitely recommend the crispy chicken wonton soup. Really friendly staff and cozy vibes
Very nice interior decor and good service! I got the hong shao pork belly bun, the meat was very good! I also ordered a small wonton soup, the warmth felt very good after walking in the cold, however it was rather salty. They also have a few vegetarian options! 100% would come back again!
