Story

With a stunning view of Chautauqua Lake, this KOA sprawls over 180 open and wooded acres, with 246 sites. Choose from RV and tent locations, as well as rustic Cabins, three fully equipped cottages and Camping Lodges. On the grounds, take a dip in the pool or play volleyball, basketball, horseshoes or mini golf. Kids will enjoy the playground and plenty of planned activities. Within 15 minutes of the campground, you can shop for antiques, visit wineries and explore great dining at local eateries. Take a sightseeing or dinner cruise on Chautauqua Lake aboard the Summer Wind. During a nine-week summer season, Chautauqua Institution features concerts, shows and lectures. Visit Midway State Park, a refurbished amusement park that harkens back to earlier days. This is a gated campground. Please arrive before 8 p.m. EST or contact this KOA in advance to arrange a late arrival.

Under no circumstances would I ever advise anyone to stay at this KOA. The owner was the most mean-spirited person I have ever encountered and I am honestly still shocked her arbitrary and capricious behavior. This is not hyperbole. The owner said we were not allowed to have our elderly parents over since they weren't "registered guests." We don't even drink alcohol and just wanted to have dinner. "Unacceptable" she said, it causes too much "wear and tear" on the unit. Mind you, this is 4 people in a 6 person unit. The lists of rude slights, aggressive behavior, and complete unfriendliness from the owner is too long to cite here. I have advised all of my family and friends in the area to stay clear of this KOA and especially its owner. I almost never leave negative reviews, so if you are reading this, please know this place is a serious bummer. Its not worth your time, your energy, and certainly not your money.

0 stars is my rating, but google made me give 1 star to post the review. The campground site is wonderful and convenient to town, but do not be fooled....save yourself the trouble and stress and go somewhere else. Anywhere else. The cabins are a good price for the location and the amenities offered. The owner is terrible. I interacted with 2 staff members who were friendly and nice but limited in what they could do due to the owner. How often do you come into contact with a KOA owner? Well, very often at the Dewittville KOA location. She works the front check-in desk and closely monitors the property. This KOA is NOT family friendly. We rented 3 cabins and wanted to have 4 visitors to 1 cabin that had 2 guests checked in with a maximum of 6 people that could stay- the owner would not allow us to have guests over for lunch inside the cabin due to "the extra use on the floor". She would only allow them to come to the picnic shelter. My grandmother was with us and unable to sit comfortably in the picnic shelter. I still don't understand the issue of having 4 guests come if they check-in, pay the day use fee, and the cabin maximum limit is not exceeded. However, this owner does not follow her own rules. She also goes above and beyond to make rude comments, and it seems as though she would rather not have guests on the property period. This is just one of many issues that we had over the 48 hours at this facility. We will never book here again. My experience was last summer, and I have waited to write this review in order to write with less emotion. The owner is truly mean and does not hesitate to make things difficult for guests. A negative star option would be more appropriate for this business.

Would never recommend this place to anyone. Not family friendly. Strict and silly rules. Owner is rude and mean spirited. Better off sleeping in a ditch.

My husband & I are traveling the USA. I called here today to see if they had space available. The rudest, nastiest woman informed me it is a 3 day min. When I asked about cancellations she said "you aren't allowed to cancel here. I'm now sorry I joined koa. Totally unnecessary to treat me that way.

We have been camping almost every year here since 2003. Great friendly people. Always welcoming. Clean nice facility.
