I met Steve and Martin a few months ago when they had a pre-owned Ibanez semi-hollow guitar for sale. I contacted Steve directly and we agreed on a trade. It’s been a great relationship ever since. In fact, I recently bought another guitar from them. They’ve provided 10 on 10 service in every instance. Thanks for introducing me to La Bella strings! Keep up the great work!
Edit 2: Well, you did mention that what I said was not true, so it’s technically saying that I lied. Again, arrogant reply Edit: Lowered to 1 star because of their dumb reply to my email, calling me a liar and saying that’s the way they’ve operated for 40 years and will do for another 40 years. In fact I noticed a pattern here in the google review, they mention the 40 years operation to people who had bad experience in this shop, as if that justifies their attitude. They should improve the customer service instead of giving arrogant replies. That’s why e-commerce is thriving while traditional shops are declining. I bought a guitar with them because it was the only store in the Montreal area that had that guitar in stock and I really wanted it. In their website they emphasize the advantages of shopping in local, family business vs a big store/online, however my experience there was not so enjoyable. Apart from the lady who showed me the guitar and disappeared shortly after, the rest of the staff seemed annoyed or like they didn’t even want to sell that guitar my impression. Yeah there were other customers but they were only testing the guitars, while I was waiting in the counter ready to pay. I was actually shopping!! I’ve felt much more welcomed at stores like archambault and they’re not even exclusively a guitar shop, but I suppose the employees have some training on customer service. Not the case here. Also, at 950 cad it wasn’t a particularly cheap guitar, so I would expect at least a free pick as in other shops, but whatever. I still need to buy a hard case but most likely not from them. But the main reason for 2 stars is that the day after shopping, I contacted them by email with attached photo about a possible defect on one pole piece in a pickup, and after almost a week I haven’t heard from them. They might say I should call, but their website also says they could be contacted by email. In addition, I couldn’t have send the photo of the pickup by phone.
Centre de Musique Diplomate is my favorite music store in Montreal, l have been going there since l started playing music. The service is always great and the staff is knowledgable on their products. The selection is large and the prices are good too! I would recomnend this store to anyone and everyone.
Great place to buy a good guitar for a great price. Very helpful and patient are Martin and Steph. Excellent selection of Martins, Taylors, Fender, Seagula, Norman's, and Godins for acoustics and semi-acoustics. I think I just found my favorite guitar store since moving to Montreal.

The best guitar store in Montreal hands down! Steve and Kara are super nice and run a really great shop full of quality and well taken-care of instruments. They know their stuff and won't pressure you to buy something you won't love, they will really help you find the perfect instrument. They also have an eye for great gear that isn't easy to find. If you're looking for a new guitar this is for sure the store to start your search!
