Catholic Family Service (CFS) offers over 15 distinct, affordable and innovative programs for children, adults, and families of all faiths and cultures.

Story

Catholic Family Service (CFS) is all about building strong families. Our programs and services are designed to help people work through things like marital problems, family breakdown, trauma and abuse. At CFS, we don't turn anyone away, no matter what they've been through or where they come from. We are driven by compassion - not religion. What makes us different is we don't prescribe solutions - we build relationships. When people feel truly understood, it can profoundly change the course of their lives. At CFS, we help people more forward to live the life they've always wanted.

Formal grievances solve nothing, according to therapists abusers are allowed to punch holes in doors and hit their children in the back of the heads with it. Therapy solves nothing and therapists will not attend to identified needs. Had a terrible family therapy experience with them and did not even intend to get with this agency spring 2022 do not use this service.
I had Mo for counselling and she was incredible. I am so glad I contacted this service because I have put off counselling for so long due to medical reasons. She was so uplifting and I just couldn’t recommend this place enough. A much better session than what I’ve had at many previous private practices.
CFS is a very warm and friendly environment. I always feel welcome when I come in for my appointment. My therapist, Beatrice, has a PhD in psychology and many years of experience, and meeting with her has done wonders for my health and well-being. There is no beating around the bush with her, she tells me straight up what she thinks, and gently guides me to come to my own conclusions and decision making. Her honesty and integrity, along with a strong sense of trustworthiness, has helped me to move through some very challenging issues in my life. I do not think I would have been able to manage them on my own, and am extremely grateful for her services. I also like the freedom to book my appointments on-line, and the hour and a half sessions provide ample time to really get to the heart of the matter, so I can leave feeling heard, validated, with a renewed spirit of optimism. Thank you CFS for all your hard work. Well done!
If I could give 1 star I would. Daniel was our counselor and did not represent the best interest of my family in any way shape or form. Our family was damaged by a traumatic event and instead of allowing us to establish a certain level of expectation regarding certain parties in our family that have a history of being impulsive liars and psychologically and physically harmful to other members of the family, he ignored our wishes to provide court documents to prove why the other parties would be damaging to the experience. He refused to let us show documentation to set the expectation we were looking for and refused to hear us out when we tried to tell him that there was documented proof via Child and Family Services on why the other party should have limited access to the sessions as their participation was more damaging to the other parties than it was beneficial. Apparently it is impossible to find understanding, and non-female biased counselling aid in this city, what could we have expected with a Christian based counseling center. This experience was upsetting, time wasting, and Daniel was blatantly biased and refused to let us speak with him one-on-one because he thought it would be better in the long run. Will not be using this service again, and will be telling friends, families, and co-workers to avoid at all costs.
Paige was our therapist but was so disappointed with her lack of professionalism and lack of communication. Her sessions were just chats and she never addressed any of the concerns. She would cancel at the last minute. If I asked for details of sessions she would send me a YouTube video. What a disgrace to the profession.
Catholic Family Services harmed me in the worst possible way; a full fledged re-traumatization. I am now suffering further trauma as a direct result and have lost all faith in humanity. I highly recommend secretly recording sessions and ordering your notes later on to make sure they are in sync. Even better, I recommend writing notes together with your therapist and demanding a copy at the end of every session.
I attended the Never Too Late graduations in Forest Lawn and Bowness and was absolutely left speechless by the tenacious efforts by students and teachers. Adults who are determined to get their High School equivalency and teachers who are determined to take a different approach to teaching. It really is a program that changes lives.
They do not receive complete referrals from child welfare and then they process them. They leave an entire side of a family out of therapy for a child. They are a huge partner in parental aleination. Government money is blood money!
