Opened in 1991 as Montana’s first coffee cart, The Catalyst Cafe has grown to become a favorite destination in Missoula for full-plate breakfasts and lunches. Open seven days a week and serving breakfast all day. The Catalyst caters to a very loyal following of University of Montana students, downtown Missoula business people, and visitors. The Catalyst Cafe brews the best coffee in Missoula and serves up a delicious variety of unique, fresh, local meals– including a great selection for vegetarians and vegans. Boo, nay, hiss Did not patronize.  And would have/do tip more than 20% often times - especially now.  As the famous quote in “Shane” says, [I will leave, but] “I’d like it to be of my idea.”

The owner greeted us, explained covid precautions and cleared us a table. Coffee was phenomenal as was the food!

A great little eatery that serves GIGANTIC delicious breakfasts. There are gluten free options for breakfast including some very tasty gluten free toast from Tandem bakery. The coffee and espresso menu is amazing and the service was prompt and friendly. I highly recommend visiting.

Pictured are the chai tea perfect spice and sweetness, the heap SO much food and a side of the green chile potato casserole best breakfast potatoes I’ve ever had. Exceptional service and great prices for what looks like a trendy brunch spot.

Probably the best breakfast cafe in Missoula.  They also do a great lunch.  My wife loves the gluten-free bread.  Food tastes good and seems healthy being easy on your stomach.

This place is cozy and delicious. The staff is very nice and provide a very comfortable atmosphere. They are also willing to make exchanges for tofu instead of eggs if you want to make an item vegan. I look forward to going back to this place next time I'm in Missoula.
